Wheeling Central Volleyball Sweeps Bellaire for Third Straight Win

BELLAIRE — Wheeling Central needed just three sets to defeat the Big Reds on Thursday. The Knights won by scores of 25-17, 25-11 and 25-19.

Kamy Conner had 12 kills and 14 digs to lead the Knights while Nicole Reasbeck tallied 10 kills and 11 digs. Gabby Leadbitter had 14 digs, Alexis Hood had 14 assists and Lainey Peters added 13 helpers of her own.

Bellaire was led on the stat sheet by Gianna Schmidt’s eight digs, five kills and two blocks. Zara Harveth posted seven digs, three kills and two blocks.

Tyler moves to 5-1

ST. MARYS — Tyler continued its hot start to the season, moving to 5-1 with a reverse sweep of St. Marys.

The Knights won in five sets, 23-25, 23-25, 25-19, 25-22, 15-12.

Braeden Wall had 21 kills and 16 digs, Katie Grimm tallied 20 kills and Julianna Lattea had 11 kills with eight blocks.

Tanley McEldowney had 16 digs and five aces while Caitlyn Northcraft amassed 52 assists.

Magnolia beats Hundred

NEW MARTINSVILLE — The Blue Eagles were victorious over the Hornets by scores of 25-6 and 25-15.

Jenna Blain led Magnolia with nine kille and five aces. Sydney Knights tallied 22 assists with four aces.

Linsly def. Buckeye Local

WHEELING — The Cadets were victorious, beating Buckeye Local by scores of 25-18, 18-25, 25-20 and 25-16.

Avery Sadlowski led the team with 17 kills. Celia Demarchi had 22 digs and Ava Gainer was credited with 25 assists and five aces.

Barnesville sweeps Shadyside

BARNESVILLE – The Shamrocks made quick and easy work of Shadyside in completing the season sweep Thursday evening.

It was a memorable night for the Shamrocks. Ava McFarland, who had 38 assists, set the school record in that stat category. She also notched 10 points, two aces and two kills.

Kynlie Cline, who had 26 digs, surpassed the 1,000-dig mark for her career.

Halle Markovich added 20 kills and eight points, while Ellie Thompson posted five aces, 11 kills and 10 digs. Jalyn Skinner had nine digs and six points.

The Tigers were led on the stat sheet by senior Gentry Brown’s four kills and nine digs. Ali Weatherson had seven assists, while Aubrey Nippert had five. Mady Violet had three kills.

Monroe Central sweeps River

HANNIBAL – Monroe Central picked up its third win in as many outings by defeating the host Pilots by scores of 25-13, 25-10 and 25-8.

The Pilots were led by Kyra Cisar’s six digs. Chloe Honeycutt had four blocks, while Reese Hobbs added five points, two kills, two digs and an ace.

Edison trips Harrison Central

CADIZ — Edison needed four sets, but picked up the win over Harrison Central on Thursday by scores of 25-23, 21-25, 25-17 and 25-15.

The Huskies were led by Danica Rensi’s eight kills. Olivia Tonkovich had 25 assists, while Maddy Butler had 28 digs and 10 points. Trista Thompson posted two blocks.

Cambridge edges Martins Ferry

MARTINS FERRY – The Bobcats dropped the first set, but rallied back to win the next three and the match inside the Tolbert Gymnasium Thursday evening by scores of 12-25, 25-20, 25-15 and 27-25.

The Purple Riders were led by Sydney Koller’s 11 kills, 30 digs, three aces and 13 points. Lindsey Best had 14 kills, 19 digs and two aces, while Hannah Meeker posted 35 assists and two aces. McKenzie Carte was charted for nine kills and four blocks. Tessa Guthrie had 14 digs, three aces and three kills.

Beallsville falls to Wood Co. Christian

PARKERSBURG — Beallsville fell in three sets to Wood Co. Christian by scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-20.

The Blue Devils were led by Kaylee Hagan’s eight kills and a block. Kinley Hughes posted seven assists and three blocks.

Barnesville sweeps OVCCL meet

BARNESVILLE — The host Shamrocks swept an Ohio Valley Cross Country League meet Thursday inside Memorial Park.

Barnesville’s Conner Starr won the boys title with St. Clairsville’s Sawyer Bonnette placing second. Shadyside senior Kenzy Beckett was female champion and Shamrocks’ Aubrey Johnson was the runnerup.

Harrison Central routs Edison

CADIZ – Angi Ferri recorded four goals and a like number of assists to lead the Huskies to a 13-1 victory against the Wildcats.

Linsly wins tri

MOUNDSVILLE — Linsly carded 309 as a team to top John Marshall (339) and Monroe Central (360) at the Moundsville Country Club.

Linsy’s Jaime Romeral was the medliast with a 71. Teammate Adam Gill finished second, shooting 74.

Zander Potts shot 75 to lead Monroe Central and Ethan Cook finished at 79 for the Monarchs.

Steubenville Edges Brooke

WELLSBURG — Steubenville shot 182 as a team, just three strokes ahead of Brooke (185) and 19 better than Weir (201).

Weir’s Jude Smith grabbed medalist honors with a 41. Henry Anderson led Brooke shooting a 42 while Wayton Hayes led Big Red with a 43.

Barnesville prevails at BecWood

RAYLAND – Barnesville picked up three wins in a quadrangular sweep at BecWood Hills on Thursday. The Shamrocks shot a 176, which was better than Martins Ferry (192), Shadyside (199) and River (204).

Ferry freshman Nolan Zambori was the match medalist, shooting a 4-over round of 40.

Buckeye Local sweeps tri

CADIZ – The Panthers picked up a pair of wins on Thursday thanks to shooting a 177. That score was 18 better than Harrison Central and 41 better than Toronto.

Gavyn Romanyak shot a round of 40 to win the medalist honor.
