Linsly Squeaks Out Narrow Victory Over Dover
WEST LIBERTY — Linsly found itself in another tight game against a quality opponent Friday night up at West Liberty and again the Cadets managed to pull out a victory, 21-20 over Dover.
Linsly (6-1) was intercepted five times, did not touch the ball in the third quarter and was scored on by the ‘Philly Special’ and yet still managed to top the Crimson Tornados by a single point.
The Cadets got on the board on a 96-yard kickoff return touchdown by Jy’Leik Johnson that knotted the game at 7-7 in the first quarter. Alex Taylor then ran in from two yards to give Linsly a lead in the second frame, but the PAT kick missed its mark and the Cadets only led 13-7.
Dover handled the ball for the entirety of the third quarter, eventually scoring in the fourth on the famous ‘Philly Special’ play.
Dover led 14-13 and then upped its lead on a six-yard touchdown run. Linsly playmaker Luca DiLorenzo blocked the PAT, however, and Dover’s lead sat at 20-13.
The Cadets drove down the field and got Taylor back into the endzone, this time from four yards. Coach BJ Depew went for the win instead of the tie as DiLorenzo ran in the two-point conversion for the 21-20 triumph.
Hundred 22, Hancock 12
HUNDRED — After winning their first game of the season last week, the Hornets celebrated homecoming with another Friday night over Hancock (Md.).
Senior Zach Wise ran for 128 yards and a touchdown and classmate Everett Johnaon caught two passes for 59 yards and two scores in the win.
Freshman quarterback Toby Michael completed 4-of-7 passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns, both to Johnson. Karter Parson carried 19 times for 97 yards.
Paden City 56, Beallsville 6
BEALLSVILLE — An emotionall loss to Hundred last week did not carry over for the Wildcats as Paden City blitzed homestanding Beallsville by 50 points Friday.
The Wildcats ran for 420 yards and six touchdowns, led by Joey Bakers’ 260 and Brayden Neff’s 102. Both found the endzone twice as quarterback Kayden Myers scored four total touchdowns, two throwing and two rushing. Myers completed 9-of-16 passes for 161 yards and two scores with an interception.
Ashton Little caught three passes for 104 yards and a score while Jeremiah Thomas reeled in an 11-yard touchdown reception.
Little also had six tackles, three for a loss, and a forced fumble on defense. Branden Rone picked off a pass for the Wildcats.
Williamstown 40, Tyler 0
PARKERSBURG — Tyler Consolidated managed just 65 yards of offense and four lonely first downs as they fell to WVSSAC Class A No. 1 Williamstown Friday night.
The Yellowjackets scored two touchdowns in every quarter except the fourth as they improved to 7-0 on the year. Tyler drops to 4-3 as the usually-strong Sean Winfrey was held to just 20 yards on 13 rushes.
Madonna 32, Richwood 8
RICHWOOD — The Blue Dons got back in the win column and stayed in the playoff race with a key 32-8 win at Richwood on Friday night.
Luca Muzzi ran for three scores, while Lucas McAllister fired two touchdown passes to Jonah McKay in the Madonna win.
The Dons are set to travel to Conotton Valley next Friday.
Toronto 34, Pymatuning Valley 8
TORONTO — The Red Knights got another big win in their quest for playoff positioning as they rolled past Pymatuning Valley Friday, 34-8, Friday night at Clarke Hinkle Stadium.
Toronto, now 6-3, opened leads of 12-0 after the first quarter and 27-0 at halftime.
Zane Kinsey racked up 121 rushing yards and 47 receiving yards in his return to the lineup, while Zeb Kinsey threw for 98 yards and two touchdowns while running for an additional 30 yards and a score.
Dom Bouscher added 53 rushing yards and 31 receiving yards with a TD catch.
The Red Knights were listed as having clinched a playoff spot in the Division VII, Region 25 standings Friday night by Joe Eitel. m
Toronto travels to Harding Stadium next Saturday for the regular season finale against Catholic Central, who is also in the Region 25 playoff battle.
Martins Ferry 45, Fisher Catholic 0
LANCASTER — Martins Ferry took to the road Friday night and made the trip to Fairfield County worthwhile with a 45-0 blanking of homestanding Fisher Catholic (0-9).
Ayden Ludolph threw touchdown passes to Connor Probst (18 yds), Landyn Hores (12) and Domenick Shrodes (7) and Tev’yn Williams had touchdown runs of 56 and 40 yards. Luca Shane added a 1-yard TD run and Alex Finsley returned a fumble 46 yards for another score.
Travis Trout kicked a pair of PATs and Joe Turner had a 2-point run.
The Purple Riders (4-5) finish the regular season by hosting rival Bellaire for the coveted SPARKY Trophy next Friday. A win could get them into the Division VI, region 23 playoffs. They are currently 18th.
Monroe Central 36, Frontier 29
BEAVERTON – The Seminoles (2-7) are making strides towards a Division VII, Region 27 playoff berth.
Xavier Kinney caught a 55-yard touchdown pass from Tucker Howell with just over a minute left to play Friday night as Monroe Central rallied past the host Cougars (3-6). Tyler Whitacre ran for the two points.
Kinney caught two passes on the night, but both went for touchdowns as he had a 39-yarder earlier. Howell completed 15 of 23 passes for 254 yards and four touchdowns. He also found Logan Powell for 15 to start the scoring and also hit Terry Price from 58.
Howell also added a 35-yard scoring run among his 104 yards rushing.
Lucas Cox ran for 161 yards and three TDs for Frontier.
Monroe Central visits Shadyside next Friday with playoff implications alive.
East Liverpool 44, Oak Glen 12
EAST LIVERPOOL — It was a bridge to an impressive win.
East Liverpool rushed for 443 yards and had two running backs eclipse 100 yards as the Potters routed Oak Glen 44-12 to win the “Battle of the Bridge” football rivalry Friday night at Patterson Field.
East Liverpool (2-7) lined up with its large offensive line and came right at the Golden Bears (2-6), as sophomore running back Quintin Conrad rushed for a game-high 177 yards on 11 carries with two touchdowns, while junior running back Trent Davis added 125 yards on 10 carries with two rushing touchdowns and one receiving six-pointer.
Oak Glen’s top offensive performance belonged to running back Matt Greenlief with 82 yards on 14 carries.
Harrison Central 50, Indian Creek 13
WINTERSVILLE — The Harrison Central football broke out of its funk in a big way against rival Indian Creek.
After falling behind early, the Huskies scored the next 43 points to pull away and defeat the Redskins, 50-13, via mercy rule Friday night at Kettlewell Stadium.
HC quarterback Hayden Cassidy, who ran five times for 37 yards, completed 12-of-19 passes for 210 yards and two touchdowns.
Parker Hutton produced six catches for 87 yards, Tre Rex recorded three catches for 68 yards and a touchdown and Kaden Jurosko collected one reception for 34 yards.
Zion McGee ran for 220 yards and two touchdowns to lead the way offensively for the boys from Jefferson County. McGee scored on a 48-yard run in the fourth.

BLACKSVILLE — The Dragons rolled to another victory Friday, 42-0 over the previously-one loss CeeBees.
