No Local Golfers Advance In Ohio Postseason

The prep golf season came to an end for Ohio-area boys players Monday afternoon.

The Division II and III Eastern District Tournaments were held at EagleSticks Golf Course in Zanesville, while the smaller division was at River Greens.

IN DIVISION II, St. Clairsville brought home the district runner-up trophy, but only one team (Carrollton) earned a bid to next week’s state tournament.

The Red Devils were led by sophomore Andrew Abel, who shot an impressive round of 73, which was good for a tie for third. However, only one individual — not on a qualifying team — advances to state and that bid was taken by Sandy Valley’s Connor Ritter, who is the defending Division II state champion.

St. C. sophomore Brodi Foster finished in sixth place with a strong round of 77. Evan Fix (86) and Ethan Turner (92) rounded out the scoring for the Red Devils.

Buckeye Local finished seventh in the team rankings with a 368. Senior Aiden Polanski led the Panthers by finishing 11th with an 82.

Union Local finished eighth with a 386. The Jets were led by Sean Alkire, who shot a 90.

IN DIVISION III, Monroe Central finished fourth in the team standings with a score of 378.

The Seminoles were led by Zander Potts, who finished tied for fourth with a round of 80.

Fort Frye earned the berth in the state meet next weekend by winning the district title with a round of 322.
