WOODSFIELD — The Big Green Machine kept on rolling Friday night at Monroe Park.

State-ranked Barnesville (8-0) led just 6-0 after one quarter, but scored combined for 43 points in the middle two for a 63-0 blanking of homestanding Monroe Central (1-7).

The Shamrocks were fifth in Division V, Region 19.

Taison Starr was responsible for four of the six-pointers, three on the ground and one via the air. He started the scoring with a 5-yard dash and followed that up with scoring runs of 33 and 5. He also snagged a 61-yard TD pass from C.J. Hannahs, who also threw a six-pointer to Luke Detling.

Quentin Leasure (2), Salvador Almarez (1), Jordan Smith (1) and Hines Ford (2) all had short touchdown runs.

“We were sloppy a little early on and Monroe Central kind of kept us off the field,” Barnesville head coach Blake Allen said via telephone. “We played well after that. I think once we got going the kids kind of fed off and we continued to play well.”

Evan Lough booted six PATS. Dillon Lucas added another.

As a team, the Shamrocks gained 407 yards of total offense, with 287 of that coming on the ground. Starr led the way with 119 on 11 attempts. Hannahs, who passed for 120 on four completions, added 82 on eight carries.

Starr caught two passes for 97 yards.

Monroe Central totaled a mere 63 yards of total offense. Tucker Howell passed for 33 on four completions. Arville Rutter ran for 23 on 17 carries. Xavier Kinney caught two passes for 27.

Barnesville hosts Shenandoah next Friday, while Monroe Central visits Frontier.

In other games, River (7-1) rolled by Shenandoah, 47-22, in a matchup of state-ranked squads at Martin Flannery Field in Hannibal; and Tiffin Calvert made its long trek worthwhile with a 55-7 pounding of Buckeye Local (2-6) at World War II Memorial Stadium in Yorkville.
