Wheeling Central junior Aidan Scott is scripting quite the high school resume in distance running.
The talented Maroon Knight added another chapter Saturday when he claimed his second straight WVSSAC Class A State Cross Country Championship.
Scott, who also owns state titles on the track for the Knights, toured the Cabell Midland course in Ona in a solid time of 16:23, which was more than 35 seconds faster than his nearest competitor.
His Maroon Knight teammate, Patrick Childress, finished 21st in the Class A race, posting an 18:39.
Magnolia's Landen Davis was solid in racing to a seventh-place finish. He crossed the line in 17:38.
Tyler's duo of Amos Kimble and Jaden Ebert were 16th and 17th, respectively.
Class AAA
Wheeling Park put forth an impressive showing en route to finishing third in the team standings with 77 points.
The Patriots placed all five of their scorers inside the overall top 25, but they were still 38 points behind University, which won the team title.
Leading the way for the Patriots was sophomore Redick Moore, who was ninth in 16:15.
Jonah Nizami was 13th in 16:31, while Seth Franke was a spot behind him in 16:33. Eleven seconds later, and in 17th place Ben Ashmore crossed the line. Trent Thomas was 24th in 17:14.
Class AA
Oak Glen's Hannah Kliner finished eighth in this division with a time of 20:43. Weir High's Naomi Young was 23rd in 22:18.
On the boys' side, Nick Gallo of Oak Glen was 17th in 17:36 and Joshua Duffy was 19th in 17:47.
