CALDWELL - Wheeling Central is known for its outside shooting. Tuesday night the Maroon Knights pushed the ball inside in a 63-37 girls' basketball road win.
Six-foot senior Keiera Wilkinson responded with a career-high 27 points, including 14 in the first half when the visitors (9-1), ranked seventh in the latest W.Va. Class AA poll, ran out to a 33-14 lead and never looked back.
Valerie Downing added 10 points, knocking down two of the team's three treys, while Lily Vogrin had eight, Reagan Olejasz chipped in seven and Brook Edge five.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Whg Central 61, Shadyside 49
SHADYSIDE -- The Maroon Knights got balanced scoring and cruised to a repeat win over the Tigers Tuesday evening.
Central was led by Quinton Burlenski and Eli Dean's 15. Troy Anthony added 12 and Jeremy Ratcliffe added nine.
Shadyside was paced by junior Ben Wach's 24. Elijah Brock added nine.
River 50, Monroe Central 28
WOODSFIELD -- River picked up another key road win Tuesday evening, taking down county-rival Monroe Central.
The Pilots, who limited Monroe to just 12 field goals and didn't send the Seminoles to the foul line once, were led offensively by junior Kabel Isaly's 20 points. Ty Long finished with 17 and Brody Lollathin added eight.
Monroe Central was paced by sophomore Tucker Howell, who went for 15.
Harr. Central 86, Edison 45
CADIZ -- Harrison Central inched closer to wrapping up a spot in the Buckeye 8 championship game by hammering Edison.
The Huskies were led by junior Hayden Cassidy's 22 points, while Clayton Vermillion pitched in with 15 and Mykel Quito finished with 12. Jace Madzia returned to the lineup after missing several games due to injury and scored seven.
Edison was led by Brayden Moses' 12. Gage Cline finished with 10.
Bellaire 71, Cambridge 59
BELLAIRE -- The undefeated Big Reds used a strong third quarter to rally from a seven-point half-time deficit to go on for their 10th straight win.
Bellaire outscored the Bobcats, 22-7, in the third.
Fueling the Big Reds offensively was juniors Mac Mac Pettigrew and Mayson Sochor. Each had 21 points. Senior Jakob Dowling finished with 10.
B.Local 52, Shenandoah 50
CONNORVILLE -- Gavyn Romanyak's offense led the way for the Panthers, but it was his blocked shot that preserved Buckeye's second win of the season.
Romanyak had a career-high on the offensive end, pouring in 35 points. He turned away a late Zeps shot to seal the outcome.
Shenandoah was paced by Carsten Smith, Xander Fairchild and Grant Stottsberry. Each had 13.
St. Clairs. 79, Steubenville 66
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Cole Thoburn exploded for a career-high 33 points as the Red Devils (4-8) defeated the Big Red (4-6) on John Jenkins Court.
Tyson Pastor added 21 points and seven rebounds, while Luke Porter had 10 points.
Cole Bowers and Ty Pierce had 13 each for Big Red.
Indian Creek 53, Brooke 47
WINTERSVILLE — The Redskins (6-5) got above the .500 mark by going to their inside game against the Bruins (3-6).
Drake Freshwater led Indian Creek with 13 points, one more than Lucca Morelli.
Brooke's Leyton Toepfer scored a game-best 20 points. Nick Cipoletti added 15.
Fort Frye 58, Barnesville 54
BEVERLY -- Barnesville put up a strong fight, but the Cadets and the 11, 3-point goals they knocked down were simply too much in the end.
Barnesville was led by Asa Geilinger's 20 points. Braedon Willis added nine.
Frontier 66, Bridgeport 48
BRIDGEPORT -- The invading Cougars set the tone early and didn't look back en route to a victory against the Bulldogs.
Frontier was led by Ethan Snyder's 23. Avery Powell finished with 15 and Lucas Cox posted 12.
Bridgeport was led by the Brothers Jackson -- Colin (12) and Avery (10).
Madonna 68, Cameron 33
CAMERON - Anthony Mascio scored 24 points and Santo Dobrosko added 11 as the Blue Dons (6-5) routed the host Dragons (4-4).
Cole Burkett had 14 points for Cameron.

WHEELING - The Patriots were led by Sam Metzner with a 192 game and a 362 series.
Linsly's Cole Bloomfield rolled a 206 game and a 361 series.

WHEELING - The Patriots squeaked past the Cadets as Hannah Seivertson had a 146 game and a 272 series.
Linsly's Sarah Catherine Jackson had a 169 game and a 312 series.
Harrison Central,
Barnesville Split
NEW ATHENS -- Harrison Central's girls and Barnesville's boys prevailed at JR Lanes on Tuesday.
The Huskies rolled a 1426 to outdo the Shamrocks' 1345. The Shamrocks, however, rolled a 1651 in the boys match, which was 21 pins better than the Huskies.
Angel Utter had the high game (173) and series (313) to fuel Harrison.
On the boys' side, Harrison's Chad Viers posted a 237 and 405 for high game and series, respectively.
SWIMMING
Linsly Sweeps Quadrangular
WHEELING -- Returning to the pool after a lengthy holiday break, the Cadets picked up right where they left off. They swept the boys and girls wins against John Glenn, Barnesville and Union Local on Tuesday.
Linsly junior Anna Norman won the 100 fly (1:07.65) and 200 free (2:09.59), while senior Liv Torner claimed the 50 free (26.77) and 100 free (1:01.36). Junior Sara Coha posted the victory in both the 100 breast (1:19.66) and 500 free (6:31.21).
Berta Roca posted the top mark in the 200 IM (2:27.61) and the 100 backstroke (1:10.48).
Union Local senior Hayden McCrate was the lone double winner in the boys meet. He won the 100 breast (1:09.20 and the 100 free (55.79).
