PARKERSBURG -- Brooke's Audrey Moore (235) won a state title at the W.Va. Girls State Championships Saturday the Elite Sports Center. She earned her championship with a pin in 1:32.
Brooke finished sixth out of 39 teams with 48.
Other placers included teammates Sophie Diaz (165, 3rd) and Ember Giglio (138, 5th).
Paden City's Rory Amos was third at 235.
Linsly's Caitlin Lewis took fifth at 114.
BOYS WRESTLING
Barnesville Takes Third
VERSAILLES -- The Shamrocks brought home the bronze medal after competing in the Division III Ohio High School Wrestling Coaches Association State Duals on Saturday at Versailles High School.
Barnesville, which was seeded second, advanced to the semifinals with a 45-23 victory over No. 7 Versailles in the quarters, but fell to No. 3 Rootstown, 39-33, before defeating No. 5 Legacy Christian, 37-28, in the consolation final.
Only three Shamrocks were able to go 3-0 on the day. They were OVAC champion Johnathan Huntsman (106/113), OVAC champion Reese Stephen (150) and Blake Kirk (285).
Stephen recorded two pins and a decision, while Kirk had a pair of falls and a forfeit. Huntsman had two decisions and a pin.
Martins Ferry, which was seeded No. 8, finished eighth as the Purple Riders fell to top-seeded and eventual champion Archbold (57-15); Liberty Center (35-30) and Perry (48-27).
Only one Purple Rider went unscathed, that being Shayden Fogle (150) who earned two decisions and had a pin.
Tyler Consolidated 2nd At LKC
ELIZABETH, W.Va. - The Silver Knights finished second at the 59th Little Kanawha Conference Championships with 146.5 points, well behind champion Braxton County's 225.5.
Tyler Consolidated had a pair of individual titlists in juniors Kaden Humphrey (113) and Sean Winfrey (175). Colsen Spragg (120) and Branson Winfrey (144) were both second.
