WHEELING - Wheeling Central and Monroe Central split a doubleheader on Ben's Field at the I-470 J.B. Chambers Sports Complex.
In the opener won by the Seminoles 6-3, Kazziah Cecil held the Maroon Knights to four hits while striking out three and walking a like number.
Karlie Haslam singled twice and drove in a run for Monroe Central. Kynzi Bishop and Jauna McElroy split four singles.
Brook Edge socked a solo homer for Wheeling Central. Ashley Baker had a triple and Payton Smith singled twice.
In the nightcap won by the Maroon Knights, 2-0, Josie Frizzell struck out a dozen, walked one and yielded five base hits as the hosts earned the split.
Edge singled twice and Jocelyn Shaw doubled.
Harrison Central 4, Cambridge 3
CADIZ -- The Huskies were able to overcome seven errors to pull out a victory against Bobcats.
Emma Skinner picked up another win in the circle with seven strikeouts.
Senior Maddy Butler had two singles, a triple and drove in a run, while Isabell Yeager had two singles and a like number of RBI.
Frontier 4, Shadyside 1
BEAVERTON -- The Cougars got solid pitching and timely hitting en route to handing Shadyside its first loss of the season on Tuesday.
The Tigers offense came on one swing of the bat by senior Gentry Brown, who hit a home run. She also had a double. Rylee Fulton singled twice.
Martins Ferry 11, Buckeye Local 1
MARTINS FERRY -- The host Purple Riders had no trouble getting past winless Panthers.
Ella McFarland was strong in the circle, scattering five singles and allowing just the one run. At the plate, she had two singles and two RBI.
Avery Hughes belted a home run, single and drove in two runs. Danielle Lude had two doubles, two singles and a RBI. Taylor Bell had three singles, a double and drove in two. Kaylynn Zinn had a single and RBI.
Shenandoah 13, River 3
SARAHSVILLE -- Mya Leach did it with her arm and bat to fuel the Zeps to a decisive victory against Pilots.
Leach was sharp in the circle, striking out 15 of the 18 Pilot outs she recorded. She also had a home run, two singles and three RBI.
River received a two-run home run from Addison Kovach and a solo homer from Rylee Knight.
Steubenville 7, Oak Glen 2
NEW MANCHESTER - Big Reds' Jules King recorded her 400th career strikeout as she pitched her team past the hosts Golden Bears. She fanned eight in the game.
King also singled thrice and knocked in a run for Steubenville (4-1). Emily Tuttle singled and doubled to drive in a run for Big Red.
Barnesville 7, St. Clairsville 6
BARNESVILLE — Through five-plus innings, Barnesville had done very little offensively and found itself trailing St. Clairsville by a 6-2 score.
Over the course of the final inning and two thirds, however, the Shamrocks erupted to score the game's final five runs and pull out a hard-earned walk-off victory inside sun-drenched Memorial Park.
Abby Salisbury had a triple, single and drove in two runs for St. C.. Lainey Benedict had two singles and a RBI, while Noel Habig singled home a run.
