Wheeling Central Blanks Hundred; Oak Glen, UL Throw Shut Outs

ELM GROVE - Wheeling Central received superb pitching, collected 11 hits and played error-free baseball in debuting in W.Va. Class Section I tournament action at the J.B. Chambers I-470 Sports Complex with a 12-0 victory over Hundred.

The Maroon Knights' Gary Hatfield singled twice to drive in a pair of runs, while Seth Cover plated one with two base hits. Carson Kuhns belted a two-run double, as did Hunter Mueller.

Wheeling Central travels to Madonna today in a sectional semifinal.

Oak Glen 12, Weir High 0

NEW MANCHESTER - Jared Hissman went the distance on the mound, striking out two and walking a pair. He surrendered only three hits.

Robert Carter singled three times for Oak Glen and drove in a run. Hunter Rhoades recorded two doubles and a single to produce two runs. Chase Patterson and Preston Cole evenly divided four runs batted in.

Oak Glen heads to Fairmont Senior today for a sectional semifinal. Weir plays Wednesday in an elimination game.

MORRISTOWN -- The Jets got brilliant pitching from Braylen Akers and enough offense, all of which came basically in the third inning, to shut down the Tigers.

Akers went the route and fanned 12 in the game, while scattering three hits.

Clay Akers had two singles and a RBI. Billy Schumacher and Logan Hess also drove in a run, while Dylan Higgenbotham had a single and two RBI.

Harrison Central 9, St. Clairsville 1

CADIZ -- Harrison Central snapped its three-game losing streak to the Red Devils by posting a big win on Monday at Robert Mazeroski Field.

The Huskies scored eight runs in the third.

Senior Treston Nemeth hit a home run, singled. Reed Arbaught had a double.

St. Clairsville received a double and a single from junior Marcus Bush. Braylen Blomquist had a double.

Toronto 7, Buckeye Local 6

TORONTO -- The Red Knights held off a strong rally by the Panthers to pick up a win Monday evening.

Zeb Kinsey had two singles and two RBI, while Dom Bouscher, who was the winning pitcher, had a double and RBI.

Jesse Meddles and Skylar Ebright each had two hits and drove in a run for the Panthers.
