All-Eastern District Football Squads Released

Ohio Valley Well-Represented, Including Five DPOY, Four OPOY, Four COTY Awards

CAMBRIDGE - Ohio Valley Athletic Conference schools pretty much dominated the All-Eastern District football team in a vote of sports writers within the district.

The OVAC had 73 players selected to the first team, as well as Five Defensive Players of the Year, four Offensive Players of the Year and four Coaches of the Year.

Division IV

Steubenville, the top-ranked team in Region 15, led the way with 10 selections, including tri-Offensive Player of the Year Isaac Hill (wide receiver) and co-Defensive Player of the Year Brody Saccoccia (defensive back).

Other first-teamers were quarterback Ayden Manning; running back Savier Faulks; offensive linemen Ben Burghey and Javin Harper; defensive linemen Peyton Gorby and Santonio Brown; linebackers Elijah Mullins and Sabron Felton.

St. Clairsville had six choices, including tri-Offensive Player of the Year Dino Burk. Wide receiver Cole Thoburn and offensive linemen Perry Patrone, Griffin Fogle and J.R. Adams; and linebacker Brennan Stout rounded out the selections.

Indian Creek had a pair of picks in running back Zion McGee and linebacker Justin Vergona.

Division V

Barnesville's second consecutive undefeated season was rewarded as the Shamrocks had 10 first-teamers, including tri-Offensive Player of the Year Casey Carpenter (quarterback), co-Defensive Player of the Year Hines Ford (linebacker) and tri-Coach of the Year Blake Allen.

Other Shamrocks earning top status were running back Taison Starr; wide receiver Jason "Duker" Castello; offensive linemen Braden Butler and Hank Johnson; and placekicker Evan Lough. Defensiverly, linemen Marshall Meade and Blake Kirk were selected, as was defensive back Luke Detling.

Harrison Central was also rewarded for a fine season as head coach Anthony Hayes was selected as a co-Coach of the Year. The Huskies also had first-teamers in running back Mykel Quioto; wide receiver Parker Hutton; offensive lineman Lucas Thomas; defensive lineman Landen Thomas; defensive back Cam McAfee and punter Brady Hyre.

Edison checked in with five selections, led by wide receiver Deacon Rawson; defensive linemen Joey Simpson and Lane Waggoner; linebacker Cole Pittman and defensive back Dawson Jones.

Union Local had a pair of first-team picks in running back Brody Perzanowski and offensive lineman Johnny Sabinski.

Division VI

Only one player, Martins Ferry's Alex Reese (defensive end) was selected as a tri-Defensive Player of the Year.

Other Purple Riders honored were running back Tev'n Williams; offensive lineman Shayden Fogle and linebacker Andrew Leiffer.

Bellaire had four first-teamers in running back Mac Mac Pettigrew; offensive lineman Joey Nixon; and linebackers Graham Campbell and Logan Edgar.

Division VII

This division had the most selection as Monroe Central's Tucker Howell (quarterback) was a tri-Offensive Player of the Year while Steubenville Catholic's Brayden Rauch (linebacker) and Toronto's Aiden Filby (defensive back) were two of the three tri-Defensive Players of the Year.

The Crusaders' Eric Meek and Red Knights' Josh Franke were two of the three tri-Coaches of the Year.

In addition to Filby, Toronto had nine other first-teamers in quarterback Russ Dickinson; running back Dom Bouscher; wide receiver Mason Marchbank; offensive linemen Cayden Benton and Cale Chaisson; defensive lineman Heath Thomas; linebacker Drake Bouscher; and defensive back Nolan Dickinson.

Steubenville Central had seven honorees including Rauch;. Others were running back BJ Fallon; offensive lineman Kody Carver; defensive linemen Peyton Rauch and Brendan Grimm; defensive back Tommy Pergi and punter Daniel Bolster.

In addition to Howell, other Seminoles included wide receiver Carter Knowlton and linebacker Dalton Phillips.

River's representatives are quarterback Kabel Isaly and running back Kaden Johnson.

Shadyside linebacker Cole Micker and defensive back Ben Wach were first team.

Beallsville linebacker James Palmer and Bridgeport defensive back Michael Marshall rounded out the squad.
