WEST LIBERTY -- The No. 20 West Liberty University men's basketball team shot better than 50 percent from the field for the fourth time in the last six games as they defeated Ohio County rival Wheeling by a score of 123-76 on Sunday evening inside the ASRC.
With the offense continuing to fire on all cylinders, the Hilltoppers reached the 120 point mark for the fourth time this season while the nation's leaders in assists dished out more than 30 assists for the sixth time this season.
John Korte scored a season-high 21 points in the win to lead six players in double figures scoring for West Liberty.

'Rocks Continue To Roll
NEW LEXINGTON - Fresh off its first OVAC Ron Mauck Tournament overall championship in nearly four decades, Barnesville kept that momentum going Saturday by running away from the 31-team field at the Jimmy Wood Invitational at New Lexington High School.
The Shamrocks piled up 339.5 points and had four individuals crowned as champions. Col. St. Francis DeSales was second with 318.
Winning titles were seniors Dakota King (138), Reese Stephen (150) and Skyler King (157). Junior Ayden King (165) completed the titlists.
Steubenville Places Fourth
WELLSBURG - Big Red had three champions and 167.5 points for a fourth-place showing at the Frank Ferguson Classic at Brooke High School.
Cal Beadling (138), Cooper Smith (144) and Brody Saccoccia (150) all won their weight classes.
Other local champions were John Marshall's Maverick Lemasters (190) and Brooke's Tyler Wise (215).
Wheeling Park finished eighth with 119.5, with Brooke (116) and John Marshall (115.5) right behind. Erie Cathedral Prep amassed 210 points, while Spring Mills was second at 181 and Fox Chapel (168.5) third.
Davis Wins 120 Title
HUNTINGTON - Oak Glen's Logan Davis kept on winning as he claimed the 120-pound weight class at the prestigious WSAZ Tournament inside Mountain Health Arena.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Shadyside 65, Bridgeport 33
SHADYSIDE - Ben Wach led a trio of Tigers in double figures with 25 points in their lop-sided win over the visiting Bulldogs on Saturday night.
Nathan Booth added 11 and Dylan Booth finished with 10.
Jaleel Vincent had 12 for Bridgeport, two more than Coen Brinker.
Linsly 47, Archbishop Alter 42
KETTERING - The Cadets moved to 15-0 on the season, overcoming a slow start to top the Knights, ranked No. 3 in Ohio Division-II.
After trailing 16-6 at first quarter's end, the Cadets held their opponent to single-digit quarters the remainder of the game, cutting the deficit to 25-19 at halftime, tying things up 33-33 going into the fourth, and continuing their strong play through the final buzzer.
D'arrae Goodwin scored 19 points, shooting 5-6 from 3 to lead Linsly. Ruben Salazar added 13 on an efficient 4-4 from the floor and 5-6 from the line- eight points coming in the fourth quarter.
Magnolia 64, Brooke 40
NEW MARTINSVILLE - Hayden Pyles pumped in 20 points while Kingston Christian and Eli Midcap evenly divided 32 as the Blue Eagles soared past the visiting Bruins.
Leyton Toepfer had 23 for Brooke. Nate Kimball added 13.
Paden City 59, Hundred 42
PADEN CITY - The Wildcats quashed a Hornet invasion Saturday, getting 22 points from Jeremiah Thomas and 19 from Brayden Neff in a home win.
Jessup Higgins joined his teammates in double figures with 10.
Brayden Bartrug scored 22 and Trey Huggins added 12 for Hundred.
Caldwell 51, River 42
HANNIBAL – Visiting Caldwell pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 51-42 win, Saturday, at the R.L. Potts gym.
River led 16-11 at the breaks, 27-22 at halftime, before the Redskins took a 38-37 lead after three.
Schott led the 'Skins (4-10) with 22, while Wheeldin added 11. Kabel Isaly's 20 paced the Pilots (8-4).
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Beallsville 68, Newcomerstown 36
BEALLSVILLE - Beallsville's Kinley Hughes nearly bested her opposition single-handedly Saturday, scoring 32 points in a decisive win against the Trojans.
Megan Robinson had a strong showing of her own for the Blue Devils, scoring 21 points.
Abby Fauver scored 12 for the visiting team.
COLLEGE WRESTLING
WLU Dethroned in MEC Tournament
WEST LIBERTY - The No. 3 Hilltoppers fell short of their fourth consecutive MEC title on Saturday afternoon inside the ASRC as they finished second in the team race to No. 23 Glenville State with a total of 136 points compared to 153.5 for the Pioneers. The Hilltoppers and Pioneers faced off in seven of the 10 title bouts with the Black-and-Gold on the winning end of four of the head-to-head battles.
Ty McGeary headlined the group of five Hilltoppers to claim an MEC title, while also being named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler. Joining McGeary as a repeat champion were Franchesco Borsellino (3-time) and Khyvon Grace (2-time). Freshmen Nico Taddy and Mason Christian claimed their first career MEC Championships.
