WHEELING — Cameron's inside and outside combination was simply too much for Wheeling Central Wednesday evening at the Central Gymnasium in a 73-53 win.

The Dragons — the two-time defending Class A state champions — flexed their muscle in the latter part of the first quarter with a run and extended it in the second quarter when they built a 38-24 lead at the half.

The Maroon Knights (7-2) simply couldn't recover.

The Dragons continued to assert themselves in the third quarter when they outscored the Maroon Knights, 23-15. Fueling the attack were Youngstown State-bound senior Ashlynn Van Tassell and savvy senior point guard Kenzie Clutter.

The duo combined for 40 points with the future Penguin finishing with a game-high 27 of those. Clutter's scoring was complemented by a brilliant floor game that saw her dish out numerous nifty passes that led to Dragon buckets.

Maci Neely and Emilee Dobbs added 14 and 13, respectively.

Wheeling Central, meanwhile, was led by junior forward Kaitlyn Blake. She went for 23 points and was the lone Knight to crack double figures. Freshman Bella Fitzsimmons added nine off the bench in top support of Blake.

For Bridgeport, Brooke Stewart did much of the scoring with 20 points.
