Local Roundup: Thoburn Powers Red Devils To Road Win; Bulldogs Squeeze Past Frontier

WINTERSVILLE - Cole Thoburn scored a game-high 24 points as St. Clairsville (8-4) posted a convincing, 77-59, boys' basketball victory over host Indian Creek Wednesday night on Coach D Court.

Brady Schafer added 16 points for the Red Devils who slowly but surely pulled away from the Redskins (4-8). Tyson Pastor chipped in 15.

Indian Creek had two players in double digits, led by Mason Lester with 14. Bryson Kamarec added 13.

St. Clairsville outscored Indian Creek 39-33 in the second half to record a season sweep. The Red Devils have won four straight.

St. Clairsville heads to Cadiz on Friday to tangle with Harrison Central. The Huskies won handily earlier this season on John Jenkins Court in St. C.

Bridgeport 54, Frontier 50

BEAVERTON - Jaleel Vincent led three Bulldogs in double figures with 14 points as they secured a big road win over the Cougars. AJ Gear added 13 and Jaki Threet a dozen.

Frontier's Avery Powell led all scorers with 18.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Valley 60, Beallsville 57

PINE GROVE - The Lumberjills received a game-high 22 points from Laken Dawson in their win over the visiting Blue Devils. Winter Higgins added 17 and Harli Rush 10.

Beallsville was paced by Kinley Hughes and Bree Hudson with 16 each. Karly Showalter added 13. Hudson had five triples.

SWIMMING

UL Boys, Steubenville Girls Sweep

STEUBENVILLE - The Jets went 3-0 in the boys portion of a quadrangular meet at the Big Red Natatorium. They defeated Oak Glen, Barnesville and the host Big Red.

Carson Phillips won the 100 Backstroke and anchored the 400 Freestyle Relay to a win. Diego King won the 200 Freestyle and swam a leg on the winning relay team, as did Dominic Surtton and Gage Phillips.

Girls

Big Red topped Oak Glen, Barnesville and Union Local as Tucker Kinsey claimed the 100 Freestyle, 200 IM and swam legs on the winning 200 IM and 200 Freestyle relay teams.
