SHADYSIDE -- Wheeling Central ran away with the Shadyside Last Man Standing wrestling tournament on Saturday with 318.5 points and nine individual champions. Steubenville was second with 234 and two titlists.
Maroon Knights winning titles were Tylique Marshall (106), Braxton Birch (120), Marshall Crow (144), Eli Tedrow (157), Wyatt Brady (165), Dustin Sanner (175), Isaac Lucious (190), Isaac Martin (25) and Dominic Asbury (285).
Winning for Big Red were Charlie Abbott (132) and Julius Mullins (138).
Barnesville's Johnathan Huntsman (113), Tyler Condsolidated's Colsen Spragg (126) and Magnolia's Gage Scott (150) also claimed titles.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Garaway 56, Martins Ferry 49
BOWERSTON -- The Pirates and Purple Riders met at Conotton Valley High School for boys basketball action, Garaway prevailing in the neutral-site matchup.
Alex Reese led Martins Ferry with 24, followed by Turner Krol with 12.
Garaway's Braden Rabor scored 20 while teammate Jensen Garber scored 10.
Conotton Valley 51, Beallsville 19
BOWERSTON -- The Rockets shot past the Blue Devils on Saturday, led by 14 points from Brooks Bower and 12 from Zachary Putnam.
Logan Taylor led Beallsville with nine.
SWIMMING
Buckeye 8 Swim Championship
EAST LIVERPOOL -- The St. Clairsville boys and Indian Creek girls each grabbed gold in Saturday's Buckeye 8 Swim Championship.
The Red Devils boys collected 145 points as a team. The team of Evan Yost, Luke Stack, Zach May and Brayden Kralovic won the 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard medley relay, Evan Yost won the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, Zach May won the 100-yard freestyle, Brayden Kralovic won the 500-yard freestyle, and Luke Stack won the 100-yard breaststroke.
St. Clairsville's girls also found success. The team of McKenna Miller, Claire Daubenmeyer, Adrienne Lowe and Lucinda Banks won the 200-yard medley relay, subbing out Miller for Abby Brocklehurst yielded gold in the 400-yard medley relay. Abby Brocklehurst won the 200-yard individual medley, McKenna Miller won the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke, Adrienne Lowe won the 100-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle, and Claire Daubenmeyer won the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke.
Mohawk #2 Invitational
MORGANTOWN -- The Wheeling Park boys took gold in the Mohawk #2 Invitational on Saturday, while Morgantown's girls finished first.
Wheeling Park's team of Levi Parker, Jackson Kiziminsk, Brady Bowie and Nathan LaMagna won the 200-yard medley relay.
John Marshall's Wyatt Jefferson won the 100-yard breaststroke.
On the girls side of things, Maitlyn Miller won the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, Brooke's team of Ella Dietrich, Lyla Horvath, Ella McCullough and Faith Farrell won the 200-yard freestyle relay.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Hundred 58, Wood County Christian 49 (Late Friday)
WILLIAMSTOWN -- The Hundred Hornets took their swarming play on the road Friday, beating the Wildcats behind a big fourth quarter.
Tied 33-33 after three quarters, Hundred outscored Wood County Christian 25-16 in the fourth to secure a victory.
Colt Sandy led the way for Hundred, scoring 27 points while going 12-14 from the foul line.
Brayden Bartrug scored 13 and Trey Huggins scored 12 for the Hornets.
Braeyn Joseph led the Wildcats with 14.
