MORRISTOWN - Union Local showed no signs of Jet lag as it continued its torrid streak with an 84-52 rout of visiting Shadyside Tuesday night inside 'The Hangar' on the campus of Union Local High School.
Junior sharp-shooter Brandon Mehl netted a career-high 27 points - with 21 coming via seven treys - for the Jets (15-4). Twelve of his points came in the second quarter when the hosts pulled away from the Tigers, extending a 23-14 first-quarter lead to 46-27 at the half.
Billy Schumacher had 10 of his 13 in the third quarter and Easton Ditzler scored eight of his 19 in the period as Union Local outscored Shadyside, 26-15, and coasted from there. Dre Saunders also hit double figures with 13.
Dylan Booth paced the Tigers with 10 points, all coming in the second quarter. Ben Wach added nine, Ean Weatherson eight and Luke Bell seven.
Parkersburg South 75, Wheeling Park 65
WHEELING - Aiden Davis scored 42 for the Ohio County Patriots while Harry Silvis scored 40 for the Wood County Patriots in a high-powered Tuesday meetup between OVAC 5A foes.
Mykel Davis joined Aiden Davis in double figures with 16. The pair combined for 10 3-pointers, Aiden making eight and Mykel making two.
Park led 53-47 going into the fourth quarter, but was outscored 28-12 in the final period.
Monroe Central 52, Shenandoah 35
SARAHSVILLE - The Seminoles' undefeated season moved to 19-0 as they cruised to a win on the road against the Zeps.
Cooper Howell scored 12 while Tucker Howell scored 11 in the victory. Corbin Farnsworth scored 12 points, all in the second half as the freshman knocked down four 3-pointers.
Monroe led 16-10 halftime and outscored Shenandoah 36-25 in the second half for a 17-point victory.
Weir 69, Cameron 66
WEIRTON – The Red Riders' Anthony Santangelo and the Dragons' Tom Hart had choices to make down the stretch. Santangelo ended up pushing all the right buttons as the Red Riders held on to defeat the Dragons Tuesday night on Senior Night on Ron "Fritz" Williams Court inside the Carl Hamill Fieldhouse.
The Red Riders led 59-54, but the Dragons scored back-to-back baskets to pull within a point, however, a missed foul shot prevented a three-point play keeping Weir in the lead. The hosts led 65-62 with 11.1 seconds left. The visitors had a chance to tie the score, but were forced to pass the ball inside. The Dragons committed a foul on the play, but a lane violation wiped a free throw and after a make, the victors led 65-63 with 9.5 seconds remaining to be played.
Malachi Stromile tallied a game-high 33 points to lead the way offensively for the Red-and-Black, while G Cross contributed in his first game back from an injury.
Lance Hartley collected a team-high 29 points to lead the way for the Blue-and-Gold, while Mason Scott netted 15.
The Red Riders hit 11 3-pointers in the game, while the boys from Marshall County tallied four.
Magnolia 60, St. Marys 55
ST. MARYS - The Blue Eagles one-upped the Blue Devils on Tuesday, with senior guard Hayden Pyles once again leading Magnolia in their win.
Pyles scored 26 points, doing the majority of his damage in the middle quarters, tallying 18 of his 26 in the second and third periods.
Dubale Greathouse and Hunter Oates each scored 10 for Magnolia.
Ashton Boron led St. Marys with a baker's dozen.
Harrison Central 82, Barnesville 63
CADIZ -- The Huskies utilized a balanced scoring effort and solid defense early to build a sizable lead early to take down the visiting Shamrocks, 82-63, in Cadiz.
Hayden Cassidy led Harrison with 23 points, but four Huskies hit for double figures and a fifth--Brady Elliott--came up just short with nine.
Senior Asa Geilinger finished with 26 points to lead all scorers, including four of Barnesville's 11 successful 3-point attempts.
Casey Carpenter backed Geilinger with 17 points, including three triples.
Dody totaled 16 points for the Huskies (16-4), with Mykel Quito adding 14 and Clayton Vermillion going for 11.
Steubenville 67, Martins Ferry 50
After being in a close battle through two quarters and trailing by as many as eight early in the third quarter, Big Red caught fire, rattling off a 33-6 run to cruise to a 67-50 victory over the Purple Riders.
Santino Haney led the way for Big Red again with 23 points, while Tre Wiggins knocked down four 3's and tallied 18, Keith Lewis contributing 15 and seven rebounds. Jace Kernahan tallied eight to come close to putting four players in double digits.
