Perry Patrone committed to the Marshall University track team on Wednesday.

He plans to major in computer engineering or electrical engineering. He will be a thrower on the track and field team. Last year, Patrone placed fifth in the state in the shot put. He is also in the top ten in his graduating class at St. Clairsville, ranked fifth overall.

Patrone is a fourth generation college athlete. His great-grandfather, Perrin Steele, wrestled at Ohio University for four years 1928-1932; his grandfather, Howard Yunghans, was a thrower at Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio; his mother, Laura Patrone, ran Cross Country and Track at Ohio as a walk-on 1993-1997, and Perry will start his academic and athletic careers this fall of 2024.
