Post 159 Ends Winning Weekend With 11-2 Victory Over New Philadelphia

NEW PHILADELPHIA -- St. Clairsville Post 159 finished a 2-1 weekend with an 11-2 American Legion baseball victory Sunday on the road over New Philadelphia.

Hunter Hoffman missed hitting for the cycle by a home run and drove in three runs. Dylan Blon singled twice to knock in a trio, while Ayden Manning had a pair of singles and an RBI. Ryan Mellott singled in a run. Max Miller also had an RBI.

Hoffman also collected the win on the mound. He fanned eight and walked one while yielding half-a-dozen hits.

Saturday

St. Clairsville 9, Beverly-Lowell 8

ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- The hosts broke a 1-all deadlock with three runs in the bottom of the third and five in the fourth, but then held on for the narrow victory.

Max Castro doubled and tripled to drive in a run for Post 159. Hoffman singled twice to plate a pair of runs, while Sylus Hyde singled in two. Rowan Mellott had two singles and an RBI, while Manning tripled in a run.

Carver was the winning pitcher. He fanned three and walked a pair of five-plus innings. Of the seven runs he gave up, only two were earned.

St. Clairsville dropped the second game of the doubleheader, but no details were provided.
