Shadyside’s Meholovitch Advances To Districts

UHRICHSVILLE – Shadyside’s Chloe Meholovitch was the lone female district wrestling qualifier from Belmont County during East sectional tournament action Saturday at Claymont High School.
The sophomore placed third at 120 pounds in advancing to the district tournament at Mentor High School on Saturday. The top four placers move on to the state tournament in Columbus on March 7-9.
Meholovitch (2-2) will be joined in Mentor by a 6-member Steubenville contingent led by defending 110-pound state champion Talea Guntrum (120) who captured a district title. Other Big Red individuals include E’Laysia Christian (105), Aaliyah Bey (115), Maleah Barbour (130), Kloe Anthony (170) and Emelyn Bolanos (190). Barbour was also a sectional champion.
Other OVAC representatives include the East Liverpool quartet of Paige Cowan (125), Bernadette Gotera (135), Kira Coil (155) and Alannah McGonigal (170); the Caldwell duo of Asie Oland (140) and Tylee Cobb (155); and Edison’s Tatiana Spencer (110)Shenandoah’s Layken Lively (100) and Fort Frye’s Zoey Campbell (190).
Cowan, Coil, Poland and Lively were also sectional champions.
