High School Roundup: Golden Bears Take Down Patriots In Extras; South Harrison Edges Out Tyler
WHEELING – Oak Glen and Wheeling Park extended their softball season opener as both teams scored twice in the seventh inning before the visiting Golden Bears won, 6-5, in eight innings Wednesday high atop the Friendly City.
Isabelle Thomas singled three times for the Patriots, while Brenna Tipton drove in a run with a single and double. Rylie Braunlich added an RBI triple. Grace Tamburin and Bryn Ernest had run-scoring singles. Abby Harmon knocked in a run and Delaney Randolph doubled.
Mattie Carney worked the first six-plus innings for the Golden Bears, striking out 10 without a walk. She gave way to Danica Holden who picked up the win. Carney also singled twice and doubled.
Nevaeh Heath slugged a solo home run and Addie Smith had two singles. Marleah Lough added an RBI single.

LOST CREEK – The debuting Silver Knights committed three errors and the host Hawks capitalized in a one-run loss.
Gabe Jackson singled, doubled, while Brayden Neff tripled in two runs. Reese Davis also recorded an RBI and Landon Boggs had a pair of singles.
