WEIRTON - Two OVAC Champions clashed on Tuesday as the Wheeling Central Maroon Knights beat out the Madonna Blue Dons in a 6-4 road victory.
3A champion Wheeling Central led 3-2 going into the seventh inning, and scored three more in the top of the inning. 1A champion Madonna got two runs across in the bottom half but couldn't come any closer.
Garry Hatfield hammered a home run for Central, finishing with two RBI. Kade Koroneos and Koy Lipinski each had a pair of hits for the visitors, Lipinski cracking a double.
Steven Brodegard pitched the first 5.2 inning for Central, striking out 10 in his start. Matt Criniti and Brady Ernest combined to work the final 1.1 innings.
Koleton Grishkevich doubled for Madonna and drove in two. David Connors struck a pair of singles and scored twice.
Wheeling Park 10, Weir 6
WEIRTON - The Patriots outscored the Red Riders on Tuesday, with Jaxson Updegraff, Ryland Robb and Nolan Yanchak each driving in two RBI in a road win.
Nate Smion doubled for Park. Miles Gorby had a two-hit day and Paul McGee drew three walks.
Jonathan Horstman crossed home plate three times for Weir.
Steubenville 9, Buckeye Local 4
STEUBENVILLE – As the rain picked up, so did Big Red's offense.
After seeing an early lead slip away against visiting Buckeye Local, Steubenville needed a response – and got it – driving in six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to surge to a soggy 9-4 victory at the Crimson Complex.
After taking a 3-1 lead in the first inning, Big Red's bats went quiet for a couple innings while the Panthers clawed back. The visitors chipped away and took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth, before Big Red came right back in the bottom half with the difference making inning.
In the outburst, which came during perhaps the hardest of the rain the entire game was played in, Big Red connected for three of its four extra base hits in the game as Royal Mayo and Landon Crosier each had an RBI triple and Matt Fabbro doubled.
Mayo finished with a four-hit day, as he also connected for three singles in the game. Fabbro also had a multi-hit game as he also had a single. Myles Cooper had a double and an RBI on a sac fly earlier in the game.
For the Panthers, Mason Griffin had a triple and a single with a pair of RBIs, while Kaleb Stang had two singles and Jordan Kovalski singled and drove in a run.
Big Red's Noah Kokiko earned the win on the mound in relief, firing the last five innings with four strikeouts and three walks.

W.Va. Class AA Sectionals
Brooke 6, North Marion 5
WEIRTON – Survive and advance is the goal in the postseason, and the Brooke softball team did just that against North Marion.
The Huskies scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to retake the lead, however, the Bruins battled back with a run in the bottom half of the inning to tie the score and send the game into extra innings.
After No.2 seed North Marion was held scoreless in its half of the eight, Maggie Diserio singled home Emma Michel with the winning run with one out to give third-seeded Brooke a victory in the opening game of the West Virginia Class AA Region 1 Section 1 Tournament on a rainy Tuesday afternoon up at Weir's Roberta "Birdie" DeFrancis Softball Field.
With the loss, North Marion had to play Weir in the second game of the doubleheader Tuesday night. The Red Riders defeated the Huskies, 7-0, to end North Marion's season at 9-17.
Eden McKinney went the distance to pick up the win for Brooke. She struck out two and walked five.
Rayden Satterfield took the loss for North Marion. She struck out four and walked two in 7 1/3 innings of work.
Individually for the victors, Maggie Diserio delivered two singles and two RBI, Wood added a single, a triple and an RBI and Eden McKinney and Emilee McKinney each collected two base hits. Also, Maia Diserio produced two RBI.
