High School Roundup: Sancomb Throws Five-Inning No Hitter; Red Devils Defend Homefield vs. John Marshall
WHEELING – The Maroon Knights cruised on Wednesday, Central starting pitcher Eli Sancomb tossing a five-inning no-hitter in an abbreviated victory over Bellaire, 13-0.
Sancomb struck out six on the mound.
Luke Tiu struck two doubles for Wheeling Central, driving in three. Jake Brown also had three RBI, while Brayden Cover had two.
St. Clairsville 3, John Marshall 1
ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The Red Devils scored late to defend their home field vs. the Monarchs.
After John Marshall plated one in the top of the first, St. Clairsville scored in the fourth, fight and sixth innings to take the win.
Roby Hanna pitched a complete game two-hitter for St. C., striking out four and issuing no walks. Leadoff hitter Caiden Bailey went 4-4 at the plate with an RBI, while Ryan Ivey also drove in a run for the Red Devils.
Cain Martin tallied an RBI for John Marshall.
River 9, Monroe Central 0
WOODSFIELD – The Pilots got a road win over their rival Seminoles on Wednesday.
Kaden Hunt went the distance on the mound striking out six and earning the win.
Peyton Blue had a big outing at the plate. After signing with Potomac State baseball earlier in the day, Blue came to the diamond and hammered a home run, finishing with two hits and five RBI as well as a stolen base and two runs scored. Leadoff man Lucas Dennis scored four times. Hunt had a double and two RBI at the plate.
SOFTBALL
Cameron 8, Magnolia 0
CAMERON – The Dragons shut out the Blue Eagles at home on Wednesday. Lexi Bogard pitched the entire six innings for Cameron, striking out nine. Skye Dobbs tallied three hits and two RBI, while Kendra Thomas tallied two hits and three RBI.
Jessa Anderson finished with two hits for Magnolia, a double and a single.

BASEBALL
Brooke 9, E. Fairmont 8, 8 inn.
FAIRMONT – The Bruins twice in the sixth and once in the seventh to take a 8-5 lead only to watch the Bees tie the game in the bottom of the seventh. However, a single run in the top of the eighth made the bus ride home a lot sweeter.
Parker McMahon earned the win in relief of Andrew Murdock. He struck out two and didn’t walk a batter. He also doubled in a run.
Gino Provezano had four runs batted in and Zach O’mery triple and drove in two. Aiden Provenzano singled and doubled twice.
