Cameron Football Staff Rewarded For Fine Season With OVAC Coaching Nod

Dragons Will Lead W.Va. In Annual All-Star Contest

WHEELING - Cameron advanced to the W.Va. Class A state championship football game before falling to Wahama at Laidley Field in Charleston last fall.

The Dragons lost their opener at Edison before reeling off 12 consecutive victories in reaching the Class A title tilt. Included in that stretch was a 36-0 dismantling of then-No. 1 ranked Tug Valley on its home field in the semifinals.

"The Cameron football staff and community members could not be more honored and grateful to have been selected to coach in the OVAC All-Star game this summer," Cameron head coach Tim Brown said. "My sincere congratulations go out to all the players selected for the game from both Ohio and West Virginia.

"Having grown up in the Ohio Valley has given me a deep respect for this All-Star Game and its rich tradition of great players, coaches and athletes," Brown continued. "This one will be special to me forever because our 2024 Cameron Dragons football team, with an amazing season, gave our staff this opportunity. Thank you Cameron, and the OVAC administration, for believing in us."

Brown has been coaching for 32 years, with 17 as a head coach, the last seven at his alma mater. He was also the head coach at Groveport Madison in suburban Columbus for 10 years.

He and his wife of 42 years, Sharon, reside in Cameron with their two sons, Toby and Tucker, both of whom are on the W.Va. coaching staff.

JACOB BERGER has been coaching football for five years, just one at Cameron, however.

The John Marshall and Fairmont State graduate is also a member of the Cameron baseball staff and was a member of the OVAC Class A champs.

He served as a volunteer coach in a previous OVAC All Star Game.

Berger and his wife, Cheyanne Fletcher-Berger, reside in Cameron with his step-daughter, Alexx Bender.

TOBY BROWN played on the 2001 W.Va. All Stars and attended WVU, West Liberty State College and Fairmont State College.

He was a three-sport standout for the Dragons in football, basketball and track.

He and his wife, Jessica, reside in Moundsville with their daughter, Jayla, and sons, Tatum and Trace.

TUCKER BROWN played in the 2002 All-Star Game and attended WVU and West Liberty. He played football, wrestled and ran track at Cameron.

He is married to Megan Brown and they reside in Warwood with sons Talen, Braylon and Tripp; and daughter, Kinzlee.

GIBBS DAVIDSON has been involved in coaching for 30 years, with the last 16 being at Cameron.

He was an assistant coach in the 2018 game and has coached football at Fairmont State. He is currently the head softball coach at Cameron.

In high school, Davidson played football, golf and wrestled. He attended Fairmont State and WVU.

A resident of Moundsville, he has a daughter, Katelynn.

DEREK MARTIN played on the 2015 W.Va. All Star team after a stellar two-sport career - football and wrestling - at Cameron. He attended Kenyon College and served as head wrestling coach at Cameron, winning the Class A/AA OVAC championship.

He has been coaching at his alma mater for six years.

Martin and his wife, Layne, reside in Moundsville with their son, Madden.
