The Linsly School announced Tuesday the hiring of Jim Merinar as the new Head Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. Merinar brings more than two decades of experience coaching both high school varsity and YMCA swim teams and will take over for longtime coach Bill Brubaker, who led the Cadets to OVAC Championships in both the Boys’ and Girls’ 1A – 3A division last season. In addition to his coaching duties, Merinar will also join Linsly’s faculty, teaching in both the math and science departments.

Merinar’s coaching background includes tenures as head varsity coach at Newberry Academy (SC) and Central Mountain High School (PA), as well as over 20 years of experience coaching year-round YMCA swim programs in Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia. Known for his strong focus on technique, endurance, and team culture, Merinar holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Lehigh University and is certified by USA Swimming.

“[Merimar’s] commitment to athlete development and fostering a positive, disciplined training environment aligns seamlessly with Linsly’s mission of academic and athletic excellence,” read The Linsly School’s press release on Tuesday. “The Linsly community is excited to welcome Coach Merinar and looks forward to building on the tradition of swimming success in the years ahead.”
