Offensive Line And Defensive Backs Prepared For All-Star Game

West Virginia Has Size On Offensive Line; Depth In Its Defensive Backfield
WHEELING – The W.Va. offensive lineman and defensive backs for Saturday night’s 79th annual OVAC Rudy Mumley All-Star Football Game at Wheeling Island Stadium have been announced.
Manning the trenches will be Wheeling Park’s Kieran Moses; Wheeling Park’s Hunter Means; Cameron’s Hunter Wright; Weir’s John Davis; Wheeling Central’s Zeke Burkle and Wheeling Central’s Hunter Kerr.
Heading up the defensive secondary is Brooke’s Triston Stevens. Others listed as defensive backs who are also wide receivers are Cameron’s Mason Scott; Cameron’s Slaton Pettit; Clay-Battelle’s Landon Savage; John Marshall’s Hayden Gaiser and Madonna’s Andre Crossland.
MOSES (6-2, 285) played left guard for the Patriots. He had the highest grade-point average on the team as a senior.

He will attend West Virginia University.
In addition to football, Moses also bowled and ran track at Wheeling Park.
He is the son of Adrian and Natalie Moses of Wheeling.
MEANS (6-2, 285) manned the center position for the Patriots for the past two seasons. He was first team all-W.Va. Class 4A, first team all-Valley and first team all-OVAC as a senior.
Also a quality wrestler, he battled back from a broken leg suffered in football season to qualify for the W.Va. state tournament at 285 pounds. He was also a three-time OVAC placewinner.
He will attend Bethany College to continue his academic and athletic careers.
Means is the son of Bob and Christian Means of Wheeling.
WRIGHT (6-0, 245) was a guard and did some placekicking for the Dragons during their run to the W.Va. Class A state championship game last fall.
He is the son of Tim and Kelly Wright and resides in Cameron.
DAVIS (6-1, 270) was a four-year letterman across the offensive line for the Red Riders, earning honorable mention all-OVAC honors as a senior.
An avid fisherman, Davis also likes to golf and ride his dirt bike.
He will continue his academic and athletic careers at Muskingum University.
Davis is the son of John and Lynette Davis of Weirton.
BURKLE (5-8, 190) was a three-year letterman in football for the Maroon Knights and also lettered two years in hockey.
He will continue his academic and athletic careers at Muskingum University.
He is the son of Alana Collins of Wheeling.
KERR (5-11, 240) was a two-way lineman for the Maroon Knights. He played football for all four years.
As a defensive lineman he charted 12 total tackles during his senior season.
Also a two-year letterman in baseball, Kerr also ran track at Wheeling Central for one year.
He is headed to West Liberty University.
Kerr is the son of Craig and Kimberly Kerr of Wheeling.
BROWN (5-11, 300) was a first team all-OVAC selection for the Blue Dons this past season. He also wrestled and ran track at Madonna.
He will attend Waynesburg University to continue his academic and athletic careers.
Brown is the son of Scott and Jennifer Brown of Burgettstown, Pa.
STEVENS (5-10, 180) was the Bruins Paul “Bud” Billiard Award winner after a senior season that saw him chart 52 tackles and pick off four passes. He returned one 70 yards for six points and ended with six total touchdowns.
He served as a team captain this past season when he earned all-OVAC and all-Valley honorable mention.
Also a member of the wrestling and track teams, he will attend Waynesburg University to further his academic and athletic careers.
Stevens is the son of Brent and Heather Wehr.
Ohio Boasts Plenty Of Beef On O-Line
WHEELING – Ohio has announced its candidates on the offensive line for Saturday night’s 79th annual OVAC Rudy Mumley All-Star Football Game at Wheeling Island Stadium.
They are Monroe Central’s Andrew Pickenpaugh; Buckeye Trail’s Wyatt Conner and Barnesville’s Salvador Almaraz. Back row, from left, are Steubenville’s Ben Burghy; Steubenville’s Myles Cooper and Beaver Local’s Carson Temple.
PICKENPAUGH (6-0, 295) was the right offensive tackle for the Seminoles. He was honorable mention all-Ohio in Division VI and earned first team status on the all-Eastern District, all-OVAC and all-MOVL teams.
He also ran track and likes to play golf.
He will attend Belmont College.
Pickenpaugh is the son of Kelly and Stacy Pickenpaugh of Woodsfield.
CONNER (5-10, 240) played center and guard for the Warriors.
He earned all-Ohio Division VI honorable mention, as well as first team on the all-Eastern District and Inter-Valley squads.
He also ran track at Buckeye Trail.
Conner will attend Bethany College to further his academic and athletic careers.
He is the son of Chuck and Becky Conner and resides in Kimbolton.
ALMARAZ (6-2, 315) was an integral part of the Shamrocks offensive success during his career as a left tackle.
He earned all-OVAC honorable mention and will attend Rio Grande University.
Amaraz is the son of Jose and Tiffany Alamaraz of Barnesville.
BURGEY (6-2, 220) first team all-Ohio Division III last fall as Big Red went 13-1. He was a two-time all-OVAC first-teamer, as well as a two-time first team all-Eastern District performer. He lettered for three years.
He had 114 career pancake blocks and blocked at a 94 percent efficiency. Defensively, he charted 47 tackles, with 11 of those being behind the line of scrimmage, recorded five quarterback sacks and recovered two fumbles as a senior.
Burgey will attend Fairmont State University to continue his academic and athletic careers.
He is the son of Jason and Beth Burgey of Weirton.
COOPER (6-2, 262) was a member of the trenches for Big Red as the starting center. He was all-OVAC and all-Eastern District.
A four-year letterman in football and baseball, he also wrestled one year.
Cooper will attend Walsh University to continue his academic and athletic careers.
He is the son of Betsy Cooper of Toronto.
TEMPLE (6-2, 205) was honorable mention all-Ohio as well as first team all-Eastern District.
He is the saon of Jeremy Temple of East Liverpool.
