High School Football Roundup: Barnesville Falls To GW, Creek Outguns Bellaire
BARNESVILLE – Barnesville saw its 42-game regular season winning streak halted when visiting George Washington (5-0) kicked a fourth-quarter field goal to earn a 17-14 win on the artificial surface at Shamrock Stadium.
The 42-game streak was tied with Sistersville for the second longest in Ohio Valley history. Steubenville won 68 straight at one point.
Barnesville (5-1) travels to Wheeling University’s Bishop Schmitt Field on Thursday to battle Wheeling Central.
Indian Creek 52, Bellaire 32
WINTERSVILLE — Indian Creek got the better of the Big Red on Friday night in a high-scoring shootout.
Creek quarterback Ian Starkey threw for 149 yards and a touchdown, while rushing for 131 yards and two touchdown. Bellaire quarterback Micahel Dippel threw for 174 yards and two touchdowns, adding 40 rushing yards.
Ethan Starr was Creek’s leading receiver, with five catches for 73 yards and a touchdown. Alex Padgett led Bellaire with seven catches for 67 yards and a touchdown.
Rylin McMahon rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns for Bellaire. Bruce Mazar turned 13 carries into 108 yards and two touchdowns for Indian Creek, while teammate Gavin Pownall also ran in for two touchdowns to give Creek six scores on the ground Friday.
Union Local 33, Beaver Local 14
MORRISTOWN – Brody Perzanowski carried the rick 25 times for 189 yards and four touchdowns as the Jets (4-2) soared past the visiting Beavers at Jets Field. He scored on runs of 16, 14, 34 and 24.
Colby Carpenter connected with Ryder Gainer on a 36-yard strike to open the scoring. Gavin Fowkes kicked three PATs.
Tyler Consolidated 14, Cameron 12
CAMERON – The visiting Silver Knights converted a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter and that was the difference as the W.Va. Class A top-ranked Dragons (3-1) fell on Homecoming.
Kason Angel completed 8 of 14 passes for 117 and a pair of touchdowns. He found Marshall Holland twice for 40 yards and both scores. Holland also had 70 yards rushing.
Soier Reed had three catches.
After a week off, Cameron plays four consecutive road games, starting at Valley.
