Toronto 26, Oak Glen 0

NEW MANCHESTER — Coming into a battle of unbeatens between Toronto and Oak Glen, both coaches knew execution would be key.

The Red Knights were the team that executed better in all phases of the game, leaving the Bears Den with an impressive victory over the Golden Bears Friday night.

The Red Knights (5-0) out-gained the Golden Bears by a 374-123 margin and had a 15-10 advantage in first downs, though five of Oak Glen’s first downs were due to penalties. Toronto ran for 164 and passed for 210 with five different ball carriers and six different receivers spreading the wealth.

For Oak Glen, which dropped its first loss of the season falling to 3-1, two promising drives that ended with turnovers on downs in the red zone and two turnovers kept them from keeping pace.

Toronto’s defense did a strong job on Oak Glen standout Logan Murray, who was limited to 66 rushing yards and one catch for 22 yards.

Murray had 69 rushing yards in the first half, most of it in the opening quarter, but the Red Knights were able to keep him at bay for most of the final three quarters.

Toronto opened the scoring with a long, methodical drive as Kenny Jett hauled in a 10-yard TD pass from Michael Henry (10 of 14 for 210 yards and two scores, 42 rush yards and rush TD) to cap a 13-play drive late in the first quarter.

Kinyo Sets Buckeye Local Bec-Wood Record

RAYLAND — Buckeye Local’s Kamden Kinyo set a new school record for a new low-score at Bec-Wood Hills Golf Course on Thursday, breaking his own record for the course that he’d set the day before.

After carding a one-under-Par on Wednesday, Kinyo shot two-under on Thursday to lead the Panthers to a 164-181 victory over Edison. He birdied hole five, and clinched the record by birdieing the final two holes, eight and nine, as well.

Dugan Dobrovich shot a 38, and Jacob Porter and John Frank each carded 46’s for the Panthers’ winning effort. The Panthers finish the regular season at 16-6 and begin Sectional Play at Cadiz Country Club on Monday.

The school’s overall low-score record is -3 (32) shot by both Chris Frye and Eric Wilson in 1993 at the old Mazeroski’s Golf Course in Tiltonsville.
