WVU Edge Defender Jimmori Robinson Will Play Against Kansas

The wait is finally over.

Rich Rodriguez announced on his radio show that UTSA transfer Jimmori Robinson will play for West Virginia against Kansas, making his season debut.

Robinson was one of the four transfers to sue the NCAA after their waivers were denied to play this fall. In a court hearing at the end of August, the judge ruled in favor of the four players allowing them to play. However, during the court case, the NCAA attorney stated Robinson was academically ineligible because he hadn’t completed his course work at his previous school. His status was still up in the air.

Before Pitt, Rodriguez said Robinson was looking good to play this season, but was up in the air to play against Pitt. Defensive coordinator Zac Alley said Robinson was going to be out at practice Tuesday as well. When the defense came out for warmups, Robinson walked out with his jersey on, no pads and a hat. He didn’t play.

Robinson will play against Kansas, making his first appearance.

Robinson was the most highly anticipated addition out of the 80-plus transfer additions since Rodriguez returned. He had 10.5 sacks last season, which was the 10th-most in college football. Most of the players ahead of him were highly drafted in the NFL Draft last year.

WVU is already second in the NCAA in sacks this season with 13, so Robinson should only make the pass rush stronger.

Alley was excited to have Robinson last week, and he should have a big impact against a strong Kansas offense in Week 4.

“He looks pretty dynamic,” Alley said. “Looks like a really good player. I’m excited.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
