High School Roundup: St. Clairsville Routs Cambridge, 52-0; Monroe Central, Linsly Pocket Victories
ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The St. Clairsville seniors went out in style Friday night, closing the regular season with a 52-0 rout of winless Cambridge on the artificial surface at Red Devil Stadium on Senior Night
The Red Devils (7-3) bolted to a 21-0 lead after one quarter as Niko Jacob returned a fumble 20 yards for a score. Kale Fisher ran in from 17 and Sam McLean added a 4-yard scoring run. Parker Galloway added all three PATs.
Galloway booted a 30-yard field goal – his fourth of the season – and Elijah Hill snagged a 21-yard scoring pass from McLean. Galloway tacked on the point-after for a 31-0 halftime advantage.
Dalton Neff hauled in a 28-yard TD pass from Luke Schafer in the third quarter and Levi Shunk (8 yds.) and Caleb Sickler (10 yds.) added fourth quarter TD runs. James Parsons kicked the final three PATs.
Senior defensive end Colten Florence charted five quarterback sacks.
Hunter Orum led St. Clairsville with 53 yards rushing on six carries. McLean was 8-of-14 for 140 and a touchdown. Schafer was 2-for-4 for 32 and a TD. Schaefer also caught four passes for 102.
The Red Devils entered the game rated No. 5 in Division IV, Region 17. The top 4 teams receive byes in the postseason and Nos. 5-8 host first-round playoff games. The final ratings will be released late Sunday afternoon.
Cambridge fell for the 31st straight time.
Monroe Central 54, Shadyside 0
WOODSFIELD – A.J. Rutter ran 12 times for 123 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Seminoles (5-5) past the visiting Tigers (2-8) at Monroe Park. He scored on runs of 6, 15 and 20 yards.
Cooper Howell connected with Max Demchak from 36 yards and Demchak found Gabriel Eing for a 20-yard scoring pass. Lukes Stiver added a 14-yard TD run and Talin Stein returned a fumble 66 yards to cap the scorefest.
Wyatt Cohen kicked seven PATs.
The Seminoles held the Tigers to five yards rushing on 15 carries and 60 total yards.
Corbin Farnsworth had two quarterback sacks and a trio of tackles for lost yardage.
Linsly 31, Parkersburg South 14
PARKERSBURG – The Cadets (3-5) continued their late season surge by defeating the Patriots at Erickson All-Sports Facility.
Malaki Washington ran for 128 yards and a touchdown, while George Mamakos added 75 yards on the ground. Lucca Troullos had two short TD runs and also caught a 4-yard TD pass from Braden Wade.
Wade also passed for 166 yards on 7 of 8. He connected with Chris Upton on a 53-yard scoring strike. Upton had two catches for 114 yards.
Joaquin Zarur had a 21-yard field goal and four PATs.
