High School Roundup: Seminoles Start Season With Road Win vs. Barnesville; Bellaire Bests Shadyside
BARNESVILLE — The Monroe Central Seminoles girls basketball squad took to the road and started their season with a bang, defeating the Barnesville Shamrocks 58-15 on Friday night.
Maci Isaly started her time with the Seminoles on a high note, leading all scorers with 16 points. She made four 3-pointers, all in the first half.
Monroe Central led 27-8 at the half.
Brylee McFrederick scored 11 for the Seminoles, doing all of her damage in the second quarter. Mayzie Emery scored 10 to join her teammates in double figures.
Jacey English filled up the stat sheet with four points, 10 rebounds, eight steals, and four assists.
Becklee Oliver led Barnesville with six points.
Monroe Central made eight 3’s on the game. Isaly made four, Emery two, and McFrederick and Carly Dick each splashed in one.
Bellaire 49, Shadyside 43
BELLAIRE – The Big Reds trailed by 17in the third quarter before storming back against the visiting Tigers inside the ‘House of Champions.’
Kayla Edgar led all Bellaire scorers with 18 points. Aubree Hines added 13 and Tamya Morgan 10. Morgan also pulled down 10 boards and blocked six shots, while Edgar charted eight steals and Hines grabbed seven rebounds.
Kaci Tsoras led Shadyside with 18 points. Kamryn Parker and Alli Weatherson had nine each.
Bellaire made 19 of 35 free throws.
