University Boys, Parkersburg South Girls Roll To Bowling Wins

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The Ohio Valley High School Bowling season got rolling Friday afternoon with the ‘Big School’ Kickoff Classic inside jam-packed St. Clair Lanes. This is the second year for the event, which was held in 2023, but not last season.

The action consisted of each team rolling two regular 10-pin games and then rolling two Baker games.

University ran away with the boys’ team title with a 5-player score of 2,330. Parkersburg South was a distant second at 2,069. East Liverpool took third with 2,016, followed by Morgantown (1,932); Beaver Local (1,865); Wheeling Park (1,771); Weir (1,733); Brooke (1,525); and John Marshall (1,290).

The Hawks’ Trey Varner won the individual championship with games of 266 and 215 for a 481 series. Finishing second was the Potters’ Jayden McDole (246-191 437), while the Wood County Patriots’ Drew VanFossen was third (169-253 422). Taking fourth was University’s Ashlynn Street (191-206 397), with Beaver Local’s Mikey Druschel fifth (246-146 392) and Morgantown’s Matthew Brown sixth (229-158 387).

In the girls’ team race, Parkersburg South – with the top three scores – defeated second-place East Liverpool, 1,761 to 1,601. Brooke (1,539) was third, followed by Beaver Local (1,379); Wheeling Park (1,309) and Morgantown (1,258).

The Wood County Patriots’ Aubrey won the title with games of 180 and 189 for a 369 series. Teammates Brooklyn Taylor 154-190 344) and Addison Griffin (137-207 344) tied for second, while East Liverpool’s Lani Rudigaugh (157-141 298) and Danni Riggle (166-130 296) were fourth and fifth, respectively. Parkersburg South’s Elaina Heagin (169-125 294) rounded out the top six.
