High School Roundup: Bellaire Girls Roll Past Cambridge; Magnolia’s Christen Scores 1,000th
CAMBRIDGE – Bellaire improved to 7-2 with a 51-33 victory over host Cambridge Thursday night in girls’ high school basketball action.
Kayla Edgar stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals for the Big Reds. Tamya Morgan also netted 15 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Martins Ferry 64, St. Clairsville 27
ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The Purple Riders completed their regular-season sweep of the host Red Devils on John Jenkins Court.
Giana Chirpas led Martins Ferry with 18 points. London Hodor added 12 and Maddie Lucas 11.
Elizabeth Morgan scored nine to lead St. Clairsville.
Shadyside 51, Steubenville Catholic 43
SHADYSIDE – The host Tigers knocked down 11 three-point field goals in their win over the Crusaders.
Kaci Tsoras led Shadyside with 16 points, one more than Layla Samsa, who drilled five triples.
Steubenville Catholic, which went 19-for-40 from the free throw line, were led by Mara Delaney with 15 points. Mary Rohde added 12.
Toronto 47, Bridgeport 45
BRIDGEPORT – Addie Snodgrass scored a career-high 16 points, Hanna Brewer added 13 and Kaylee Baxter 10 but the Bulldogs fell short on Frank Baxter Court inside the John J. Havlicek Gymnasium.
Jayna Reeves had 21 points for the Red Knights. Josey Dickinson added 14.
Frontier 61, Magnolia 21
NEW MARTINSVILLE – The Blue Eagles fell victim to the Cougars on Thursday, Frontier picking up a road win behind 19 points from Kelsey Dye.
Magnolia was led by sophomore Kaylee Yost’s 16 points.
Tuscarawas Valley 50, Indian Creek 29
WINTERSVILLE – The 3-point shot is a lethal weapon, and the Tuscarawas Valley girls’ basketball team certainly used it to its advantage against undefeated Indian Creek.
Aleah Wozniak collected a team-high 14 points to lead the way for the Trojans (4-3), junior Brennen Reichman, who has committed to play softball at Ohio State, contributed 12 and Maleah Dillon tallied eight.
Marietta 44, Barnesville 28
MARIETTA -The visiting Shamrocks could only muster double figures in one of the four quarters in falling to the Tigers.
Lynzey Kiser led Barnesville with eight points. Lydia Fuchs added seven.

PINE GROVE – The Blue Eagles’ Kingston Christen scored 20 points to reach the 1,000-point mark for his career. He reached the threshold with a deep 3-pointer in the second quarter.
Zane Fluharty led the Lumberjacks with 14.

WHEELING – The Cadets defeated Weir 124-19, John Glenn 111-43 and Cambridge 129-19 as Sebastian Jayakumar won the 200 IM in 2:16.31 and the 100 Breaststroke in 1:05.62.
John Glenn swam past Weir 61-26 and Cambridge 66-32, while Cambridge beat Weir 46-31.
Girls
WHEELING – The Cadets topped Weir 90-47, John Glenn 91-42 and Cambridge 91-8 as Grace Norman captured the 50 Freestyle in 27.86 and the 500 Freestyle in 6:00.26 and Adriana Lopez Alonso won the 200 IM in 2:27.86 and the 100 Breaststroke in 1:11.68.
Weir defeated John Glenn 72-53 and Cambridge 85-10, while John Glenn beat Cambridge 68-12.
