High School Roundup: Maroon Knights Blast Cadets; St. C. Handles Shamrocks

EAST WHEELING – Five Wheeling Central players reached double figures Wednesday night as they blew past visiting Linsly, 77-41, in girls’ basketball action.

Bella Fitzsimmons led the group with 19 points, one more than Seneca Heller. Addie Payton added 16, while Haley Severns and Erin Maxwell evenly divided 20.

Vega Moragrega led the Cadets with 12.

BOYS BASKETBALL

St. Clairsville 73, Barnesville 47

ST. CLAIRSVILLE – The Red Devils (3-0) raced out to a 44-28 lead and coasted from there against the visiting Shamrocks on John Jenkins Court.

Griffin Straub, who has committed to NCAA Division II Indiana, Pa., netted 19 of his game-high 24 points in the initial 16 minutes.

Luke Schafer added 14, Brody Clifford 12 and Ollie Muhly 10.

Ryker Willis led Barnesville with 20. Aidan Caldwell supported with eight.

Beaver Local 62, Harrison Central 43

CADIZ – The Huskies (0-4) fell behind 18-7 after one quarter and couldn’t catch the visiting Beavers.

Bryson Kamarec scored 24 points for Harrison Central.

Owen Hill led Beaver Local with 23.

Seminoles Sweep Linsly

Boys

WOODSFIELD – Keegan Graham rolled games of 223 and 192 for a 415 series to lead the Seminoles past the visiting Cadets, 1,951 to 1,572. Andrew Huang paced Linsy with a 170 game and 313 series.

Girls

Shannon Shepherd had games of 125 and 112 for a 237 series as the Seminoles prevailed, 1,957 to 1,572.

Baylie Hinebaugh had a 160 and 244 for Linsly.

Barnesville Sweeps Monroe Central

Boys

Keegan Martin rolled games of 258 and 257 for a 515 series as the Shamrocks defeated the Seminoles, 1,659 to 1,098. Colton Hall added games of 251 and 215 for a 466 series.

Graham paced Monroe Central with games of 211 and 190 for a 401 series. Bodie Rader had games of 185 and 178 for a 363 series.

Girls

Megan Bishop rolled a 183 and 324 to pace the Shamrocks. Payton Bell had a 164 and 303.

Hunter Harrigan had a 140 and 134 for a 274 series.
