High School Roundup: Monroe Central Bests Waterford; Oak Glen Defends Homecourt vs. Monarchs
WATERFORD — The Monroe Central Seminoles picked up a road win Tuesday over the Waterford Wildcats to move to 3-2 on the season, winning 54-41.
The Seminoles’ play coming out of the locker rooms was a big factor Tuesday, as in the first and third quarters, Monroe Central outscored Waterford 29-18.
Corbin Farnsworth scored 19, 15 coming in the second half, while Cooper Howell scored 16 for the Seminoles. Caedyn Silva added nine.
Finn Pennock led Waterford with 18 points.
Oak Glen 76, John Marshall 59
NEW CUMBERLAND — The Golden Bears offense out-raced the Monarchs on Tuesday– helped by Gavin Geisse’s 33 points.
Geisse, a senior, earned most of his points from the field- only earning four free throws, making all of them. He converted 14 field goals. He was remarkably consistent, scoring seven points in the first quarter, nine in the second, and eight points in the third and fourth quarters.
Elijah Knisley scored a dozen for Oak Glen and Will Weekley scored 10.
Sincere Saunders led John Marshall with 10 points, all of which came in the first quarter.
Wheeling Park 69, Weir 42
WHEELING — The Patriots’ JD Williams caught fire from beyond the arc and helped Wheeling Park persevere past the Red Riders on Tuesday.
Williams made five 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 28 points. Josh Huffman and Mar Rouse each scored 10 and Kolten Whitmire scored nine. Rouse grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Armir Williams led Weir with 13. Weir led 12-10 after the first quarter but trailed 27-23 by halftime. JD Williams made four of his five 3-pointers in the second half to help Park pull away.
Bridgeport 69, Cameron 23
CAMERON — The Bulldogs clamped down on the Dragons on Tuesday, running away with a road victory on a day where 11 Bridgeport players scored on offense.
Jaleel Vincent led Bridgeport with 17 points, 15 coming in the first half. Jaki Threet scored 12. Bridgeport led 13-5 after the first quarter and had grown their lead to a 35-12 advantage at the half.
Colin Magers led Cameron with eight points.
Shadyside 65, Shenandoah 44
SARAHSVILLE — The Tigers received double-digit scoring from four players in a decisive road win Tuesday over the Zeps.
Bryce Sloan scored 18 to lead the Tigers, while Michael Hendershot and Trenton Marling each scored a dozen and Wyatt Parr 10.
Shadyside was on fire in the first half, where they built a 41-23 lead.
