High School Roundup: Balanced Scoring Attack Lifts St. C. Past Bellaire

BELLAIRE – St. Clairsville had six players reach double figures as it rolled past host Bellaire inside the ‘House of Champions’ Tuesday night in boys’ high school basketball action.

Brody Clifford led the half-dozen with 15 points, while Griffin Pastor, Matheson King and Luke Schafer all scored a dozen. Griffin Straub and Nico Jacob evenly divided 20.

The Big Reds’ Jace Violet led all scorers with 23.

St. Clairsville visits Martins Ferry on Thursday.

Steubenville 90, Steubenville Catholic 22

STEUBENVILLE — Steubenville’s starters got off to a flying start against an overmatched Catholic Central inside the Crimson Center and built a big lead, allowing all 11 players dressed to see the floor in the second half of a lopsided victory over the Crusaders.

Nine different players scored for Big Red (8-1), and five reached double digits. Santino Haney led the way with a game-high 23 points, while Braidyn Edwards came off the bench and finished with 17, swishing three triples and grabbing six rebounds. Tre Wiggins netted 13 and five boards, Jermaine Moore tallied 12 points and Landon Bowers 10 points.

Big Red, ranked No. 8 in Division III by MaxPreps, netted 32 points in the opening quarter to open a 24-point lead. The lead was 39 by the halftime break at 56-15. A 22-0 showing in the third quarter spread the margin wider.

Rahim Mitchell led the Crusaders with nine points and six rebounds. Michael Fabbro tallied six.

John Marshall 67, Magnolia 47

NEW MARTINSVILLE – Jackson Helms poured in 19 points and Landen Snyder added 17 as the Monarchs won on the road over the Blue Eagles. Briar Cork had 11.

Kingston Christen dropped in 28 for Magnolia. Noah Hood added 10.

Brooke 65, Buckeye Local 43

WELLSBURG — The Bruins secured their fourth win in a row on Tuesday with a double-digit victory over the visiting Panthers.

Andrew Murdock led the way with 22 points for Brooke, also tallying five steals. Crosby Morris scored 12 with six rebounds. Pete Fodor added 11 and Grant Yost grabbed 17 rebounds and scored eight points.

Kolton Carothers led Buckeye Local with nine.

Caldwell 67, Shadyside 40

CALDWELL – The Tigers fell to the Redskins as Dylan Schott scored 19 points and Gentry Brown netted 14 to lead the hosts.

Jayden Johnson paced Shadyside with 13.
