High School Roundup: St. Clairsville Falls In OT; Valley Edges Out Bulldogs

COLUMBUS – Columbus Bishop Ready outscored St. Clairsville 8-0 in overtime Monday afternoon for a 67-59 victory in a game played with a shot clock at Ohio Dominican University.

The game was deadlocked at 59 at the end of regulation, but the Red Devils (11-5) couldn’t crack the scoring column in the extra session.

Indiana, Pa. recruit Griffin Straub continued to lead St. Clairsville with 28 points. Luke Schafer scored 18 in his first game back from an ankle injury.

East Fairmont 84, John Marshall 60

MOUNDSVILLE – The visiting Bees held a 36-19 halftime advantage before exploding for 48 second-half points to roll past the Monarchs.

Preston Watkins netted 22 points for John Marshall. Jackson Helms added 13.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Valley 43, Bridgeport 40

PINE GROVE — The Lumberjills received 13 points apiece from their senior duo of Laken Dawson and Michaela Miller to help them to a close win over the visiting Bulldogs.

Bridgeport’s Hanna Brewer poured in 22 points, knocking down four 3-point goals. Bridgeport trailed 21-17 at halftime. Kaylee Baxter scored nine for the visitors.

Aubree Mason scored 11 for Valley, seven coming in the fourth quarter.

Monroe Central 53, River 27

WOODSFIELD – The Seminoles (14-3) continued their solid play with a near doubling up of the visiting Pilots on Junior Winland Court.

Jacey English led Monroe Central with 16 points. Brylee McFrederick added 10.

Carleigh Trifonoff had a game-high 15 for River.

Cameron 54, Heritage Christian 9

CAMERON – The Dragons led 34-2 at the half and 43-2 at the end of three quarters as 10 different players cracked the scoring column.

Macey Bertram led the way with 15. Kendra Thomas added nine.

Barnesville 55, Ridgewood 37

BARNESVILLE – Aiva Leasure scored 23 points and Becklee Oliver added 11 as the Shamrocks cruised past the visiting Generals.
