Nearly 20 Northern Panhandle Girls Ready To Seek Gold At State Tourney

HUNTINGTON – Nineteen females will take to the mat Saturday at 8 a.m. inside the Marshall Health Arena as the W.Va. girls state wrestling tournament gets under way.

The finals are scheduled for 6:30 Saturday night.

Wheeling Park leads the local contingent with eight qualifiers. Tyler Consolidated has five, while John Marshall and Magnolia have two each. Cameron and Oak Glen have one each.

A look at each school follows:

CAMERON

Ava Lemasters (114, Sr., 22-10)

Lemasters placed third in 2024 and 2025 at the state tournament. She was fourth at the North Region. She was No. 5 in the final state rankings.

JOHN MARSHALL

Morgan Brandon (165, Soph., 20-14)

Brandon placed second in the North Regional. She was No. 7 in the final state rankings.

Jaycee McEndree (185, Soph., 25-13)

McEndree finished fourth in the North Regional. She was No. 7 in the final state rankings.

MAGNOLIA

Annalise Goddard (107, Fr., 14-12)

Goddard placed sixth in the North Regional. She was No. 10 in the final state rankings.

Jozie Madden (185, Jr., 11-7)

Madden finished sixth in the North Regional. She was sixth in the final state rankings.

OAK GLEN

Alexandra Watkins (152, Jr., 30-7)

“Alexandra was able to wrestle an entire girls schedule this year and has put together a very good season,” Oak Glen head coach Josh Cornell said.

She currently has 30 wins and was the 152-pound OVAC girls champion in January. She is currently ranked 5th in the state.

TYLER CONSOLIDATED

Arianna Hartline (138, Sr., 15-8)

Hartline placed fifth in the North Regional. She was No. 6 in the final state rankings.

Miya Johnson (138, Sr., 7-7)

Johnson finished seventh in the North Regional.

Eliana Winfrey (152, Sr., 27-2)

Winfrey won the North Regional and was a state champion last winter. She was No. in this year’s final state rankings.

Chloe Dutton (165, Sr., 16-14) 10th

Dutton placed at the regional. She was sixth in the state last year.

Toni Thomas (235, Jr., 10-10)

Thomas placed sixth at the North Regional.

WHEELING PARK

Abigail O’Donnell (120, Soph., 12-9)

O’Donnell placed third at the North Regional.

Baileigh Brothers (126, Jr., 12-11)

Brothers finished eighth at the North Regional. She was ranked eighth in the final state poll.

Grace Tamburin (138, Sr., 8-12)

Tamburin placed fourth at the North Regional. She was No. 5 in the final state rankings.

Kylah Cunningham (165, Jr., 15-7)

Cunningham took third at the North Regional. She was tied for eighth in the final state rankings.

Kendra Falcone (165, Jr., 7-11)

Falcone placed sixth at the North Regional.

Kymber Heldreth (185, Soph., 21-2)

Heldreth finished as a runnerup in the North Regional. She was third in the final state rankings and finished fourth last year at 165.

Terriona Gibbons (235, Jr., 18-5)

Gibbons placed second at the North Regional. She was tied for third in the final state rankings and finished third last year in the state.

London Fankhouser (235, Soph., 5-8)

Frankhouser took seventh at the North Regional. She was tied for sixth in the final state rankings.

“It is exciting to see the Wheeling Park Girls Wrestling team succeed this season. This is most of the girls’ first year of wrestling. It will be fun to be watching the leaderboard on Saturday to see how high this team can finish,” Wheeling Park head coach Danny Doyle said. “Individually, Terionna and Kymber look to be making state title runs. Each are returning state placers and each are ranked second in the state. They have been preparing for this weekend, and I expect to see them wrestling Saturday night on the big stage.”
