Preston Tops Wheeling Park In Playoff Warm-Up
KINGWOOD — A go-ahead putback gave the homestanding Preston Knights a 59-57 victory over the Wheeling Park Patriots on Monday in a regular season make-up game, and with a postseason rematch on the horizon.
Preston’s Easton Hayes scored the game-winning basket after an offensive rebound. Hayes scored a game-high 19 points.
JD Williams led Wheeling Park with 18, while Jordan Beck-James scored 16 and Josh Huffman scored 14 for the Patriots.
The Patriots trailed 26-23 at halftime and led 45-44 going into the fourth quarter.
The Patriots and Knights will meet each other again soon– in a playoff elimination game.
With WVSSAC postseason seedings already released, No. 7 Wheeling Park will host No. 10 Preston in a Class AAAA North Region matchup on Friday, March 6 inside The Palace on the Hill.
