High School Roundup: John Marshall Splits With St. Clairsville

MOUNDSVILLE — The John Marshall Monarchs baseball team split their back-to-back with the St. Clairsville Red Devils with a 10-7 home victory on Friday.

John Marshall scored nine runs in the first inning, chasing St. C.’s starting pitcher. Niko Jacob pitched the final five winnings, allowing three hits and one run the rest of the way.

]Aidan Clegg earned the win for John Marshall, pitching three innings in relief, allowing one run and striking out three.

Cain Martin and Mason Markonich each had two RBI and Jacob Cisar tripled for the Monarchs. Cisar and Hayden Hughes each had two knocks.

Elijah Hill homered and drove in three, while Landon Stack doubled for the Red Devils.

Buckhannon-Upshur 12, Wheeling Park 3

WHEELING — The Buccaneers tallied 16 hits on their way to an explosive offensive performance and a road victory over the Patriots.

For Wheeling Park, Braydon Bartsch and Cooper Kelly each hit doubles, while Brody Groome homered and drove in two as part of a two-hit day.

Jaxon Spratt powered Buckhannon with four hits and four RBI.

Carrollton 2, Indian Creek 0

WINTERSVILLE — The Warriors limited Creek to two hits for a defense-centric win on Friday.

Gavin Pownall and Logan Wedlake each had hits for Indian Creek. Pownall, Max Lane and Adam Brothers combined on the mound, allowing just one earned run.
