WVU Football Adds Third LB Commitment For 2027 Class

MORGANTOWN — West Virginia and defensive coordinator Zac Alley are loading up on linebackers for the 2027 class. The Mountaineers received a commitment from consensus 3-star linebacker Rick Brown, he announced on his social media. Brown is the third linebacker for WVU’s 2027 class.
Brown received offers from multiple Division I programs, including Pitt, Boston College, UConn, James Madison and Temple. But, he picked the Mountaineers and has scheduled an official visit for June 5-7th.
The 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker committed to the Mountaineers just a couple of days after earning an MVP at the Nike Opening Camp in New Jersey. He also received an invite to The Opening Finals in Oregon.
The Harrisburg, Pa., native had a productive three years in high school so far. Brown got varsity reps as a freshman, and made 29 tackles, broke up two passes and had an interception. In his sophomore year, Brown tallied 129 tackles, nine tackles for loss, four pass breakups, a pick, a sack and forced a fumble. Brown was really disruptive his junior year and had a stat line of 105 tackles, six for loss, nine pass breakups, three quarterback hurries, two interceptions and forced a fumble in 13 games.
Brown is ranked as the 22nd player in Pennsylvania and the 69th-rated linebacker in the class. He joined linebackers Mason Cerovac and Broncs Baker, and Brown is the highest rated of the bunch. Brown is the sixth commitment overall.
