MOUNDSVILLE - The Ohio Valley Golf League started the 2026 season Friday with a season-opening Scramble/Match Play event at the sun-baked Moundsville Country Club.
Barnesville nipped Union Local for the boy's Scramble title with a sizzling 8-under par 28 for nine holes. The Jets carded a 29, one shot back.
The Shamrocks' foursome consisted of Kennedy Little, Blake Shugert, Blaine Thompson and Dylan Gallagher.
In the boys' Match Play, Union Local's Liam Roe defeated St. Clairsville's Beau Mooney.
Shadyside topped the girls Scramble field with a 1-over par 37. The Tigers' foursome included Callie O'Donnell, Bayden Parr, Greta Green and Calla Conaway.
The Shamrocks' Kennedy Little defeated Monroe Central in Match Play.
The event included only Ohio teams as West Virginia doesn't get started until next week.
