Mavrik Malin Earns Tri-Medalist Honors With A 70

ZANESVILLE - For the third time since 2012, the St. Clairsville Boys' Golf Team has qualified for the Division II state tournament.

Monday at EagleSticks Golf Course, senior Mavrik Malin earned tri-medalist honors with an even-par 70 (34-36) as the Red Devils posted an impressive four-player total of 293.

"It was a pretty exciting day," St. Clairsville head coach Heidi Mooney said in a telephone interview. "I'm super, super excited for them."

Malin tied with Beaver Local freshman Eli Stewart (33-37) and River View sophomore Colton Gress.

The Red Devils’ depth really played a part in Monday's victory as freshman Jackson Conway fired a 73.

Jackson really stepped it up today. He kept his game face on the entire day, and it showed," Coach Mooney noted.

Juniors Beau Mooney, Ryan Mooney and Mason Conway all carded 75s.

The boys have teeter-tottered all year, but today the spread wasn't as big," Coach Mooney added. "They all played fabulous."

Joining St. Clairsville on Oct. 11-12 at Firestone Country Club in Akron is River View, which finished with a team score of 298. Indian Valley was third (300) and Martins Ferry (326) finished fourth as Dylan Pielech shot a 77 to lead the way. Steubenville was eighth with 342.

St. Clairsville also qualified for the state tournament in 1981, 2012 and 2024.
