ST. CLAIRSVILLE - St. Clairsville saw its 2025 volleyball season end on John Jenkins Court in a five-set loss to East Liverpool in the district finals. The current Red Devils weren't about to let that happen again.

After dropping the first set 25-13 to No. 7 John Glenn, the third-seeded hosts strung together three consecutive victories Monday night to advance to the Ohio Division IV, East I District Championship game for the first time in head coach Steve Harris's tenure.

The Red Devils (20-3) prevailed by scores of 25-17, 25-10 and 25-21 to eliminate the Muskies (13-11).

"I think losing last year like we did really helped us tonight. We learned from that," Harris said. "We had good leadership. I didn't think we played our best tonight at times, but we were able to fight through that. John Glenn is a good team. Good teams will make you struggle."

St. Clairsville will now face No. 2 Indian Valley on Wednesday for the district title at Meadowbrook High School in Byesville. The match starts at 6 p.m. The Braves defeated No. 8 Minerva 25-20, 25-22 and 25-12, also on Monday night.

"I've watched a little bit of film on them," Harris said of the next opponent. "I don't know much about them."

St. Clairsville and John Glenn were knotted at 9 in the first set until the Muskies reeled off a dozen unanswered points to take control at 21-9 en route to a 25-13 victory.

The Red Devils, who have now won four straight and 12 of their last 13, led 11-8 in the second set before running off seven straight for an 18-8 lead and never looking back.

"There are a few things that we need to clean up after tonight, but that's okay. That's what these games are made for. They make you work hard," Harris added.

Corrin Pritts, Vivian Harris, Madison Wehr and Savannah Cisar played well on the front line, while Ava Saunders set up just about every kill and Abigail McCulley and Lola Schumacher starred in their roles.

As far as 20 wins in a season, Harris has never really put much stock in numbers, but it is an accomplishment.

"We don't really put a number on wins. I have in the past, but this year I didn't do that," he said. "Our goals are a little more specific. I'm super proud of these girls. They deserve to play for a district championship and, hopefully, more."
