50-Year Reunion Unites Players From 1976 OVAC Game

WHEELING – Fifty years ago West Virginia defeated Ohio in the 30th annual OVAC Rudy Mumley All Star Football Game, 33-20, at Wheeling Island Stadium. Saturday night, 26 players and coaches who participated in that contest will be recognized during the first quarter of the 80th annual mid-summer classic. Both head coaches are deceased. They were Jim Thomas of Wheeling Central and Ron Pobolish of Cadiz. The days of a player who has the size of a tight end but can carry the ball like a running back will be displayed on Mountaineer Field once again.
