Fireworks, Food Trucks And Fun On Tap At Wheeling Island Festival

Photos contributed The Independence Day Fun Festival returns this year to Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack with live music, food trucks and fireworks.

WHEELING -- Live music, food trucks, carnival rides and fireworks will return to Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack as it hosts its third annual Independence Day Fun Festival on Friday, July 3.

The event will run from 3 to 10 p.m. in the festival area of the property's parking lot and is free and open to the public.

Organizers said the festival will feature live entertainment, carnival rides and games, food trucks and vendors, giveaways, live racing and a fireworks display to cap the evening.

"This event has quickly become a summer tradition for our community, bringing together live music, great food, family activities, racing, promotions and fireworks in one exciting celebration," said Kim Florence, president and general manager of Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack.

Music will begin at 3 p.m. with Company Caravan, followed by Marks Bros. Band at 5:30 p.m. Casanova & The Divas will close out the entertainment at 8 p.m., leading into the fireworks finale.

In addition to live entertainment, guests can watch live greyhound racing during the festival and visit a lineup of food trucks and vendors offering a variety of food, desserts, specialty items and crafts.

Family activities will include carnival rides, inflatables, games, face painting, caricatures and other attractions designed for all ages. Guests 21 and older can also access a beer garden featuring 16-ounce souvenir cups and drink specials.

The festival will include promotions and giveaways throughout the evening, including Free Play, Match Play, Truck Bucks offers and other casino incentives, along with items such as T-shirts and Fedora hats while supplies last.

Wheeling Island Hotel-Casino-Racetrack is owned and operated by Delaware North, which also operates Mardi Gras Casino & Resort near Charleston.

The property features more than 900 slot machines, 22 table games, poker, a sportsbook, live greyhound racing, a renovated 151-room hotel, restaurants, meeting space and a 1,000-seat showroom. Wheeling Island draws more than 2 million visitors annually.
