Grant funding in the amount of $46,326 was announced Tuesday for eight non-profit organizations which support programs that benefit Marshall County.
Susie Nelson, director of the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley, announced the third round of recipients of grants from the Chevron Community Fund, a strategic grant-making program funded by Chevron and administered by the CFOV. The award recipients were announced during a recognition ceremony at Reynolds Memorial Hospital.
“We received a number of quality grant applications, and we worked with Chevron to view all applications and make recommendations,” Nelson said.
The Chevron Fund holds two grant cycles – one in the spring and one in the fall – and any organization receiving a grant must sit out a cycle before being eligible again. This cycles grants ranged from $676 to $10,000.
Helping Heroes received the $10,000 figure, while a $8,800 grant was given to the Marshall County Family Resource Network. The Moundsville Police Department received a $6,850 to purchase six tasers. Also, $5,000 grants were received by the Children’s Museum of the Ohio Valley Inc, Youth Services System Inc., Faith in Action Caregivers Inc. and Our Lady of Peace School. McNinch Primary received $676.
Chevron established the fund with a $100,000 contribution. They entered into an agreement with the CFOV to oversee the fund.
Trip Oliver, manager of public affairs for Chevron’s Appalachian/Michigan Business Unit said Chevron will be operating in this region for decades and is committed to improving the social and economic well-being of the communities in which they operate.
The CFOV has been a part of the Ohio Valley for 42 years, and with assets of more than $29 million, the Foundation assisted in making more than $1.4 million in grants last year.
