Wheeling Kiwanis Club to Host Doo-Wop Fundraiser Dinner Event Aug. 20 at WesBanco Arena

By Alec Berry 1 min read

WesBanco Arena will take a step back in time later this month when the Kiwanis Club hosts its annual "Doo Wop Dinner and Show."

Tim Reed of the Wheeling Kiwanis Club said the annual fundraiser will take place at 6 p.m. Aug. 20 at the arena. The event will feature vintage cars, food and dancing.

Proceeds will go toward 25 nonprofits involved with local youth. Reed said the club is glad to host the event, as it offers a lighthearted way to continue the Kiwanis mission of community engagement.

The event, in its fourth year, is popular because it offers those nostalgic for the 1950s a chance to dance to old favorites, according to Reed. This year, the Richters and the Holidays will provide music.

Generations Restaurant and Pub is responsible for catering.

Wheeling's Kiwanis Club is the oldest in West Virginia. Established in 1918, it has sponsored several other state clubs, including those in Huntington, Charleston and Fairmont.

Tickets for the Doo Wop Dinner and Show are available. Visit wheelingkiwanis.org for more information.
