Glen Dale Tractor Supply to Help Find Homes for Animals

A local agriculture retailer is planning a community event designed to unite area residents with animals in need of homes.

Glen Dale Tractor Supply, located at 1607 Wheeling Ave., will host Pet Appreciation Week Wednesday through Sunday. During Saturday's main event, volunteers from the Belmont County Animal Shelter will have adoptable pets available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., along with a baked goods sale from the Bandits 4-H Club of Cameron.

The adoption day will also include samples, giveaways, drawings for gift cards and other activities. Discounts on pet products, from food and treats to toys and crates, will begin at the store Wednesday.

Pet adoption week, a national initiative by Tractor Supply, also raises awareness about the importance of spaying and neutering animals, along with giving proper care and nutrition.

The store's general manager, Robert Gray, said the day is an opportunity to enjoy community members and animals.

"Pet Appreciation Week is a time when our love for animals really shines," Gray said. "It's an opportunity for us to celebrate the love of pets, find great homes for local adoptable animals and showcase the community partners and rescuers who care for these animals year-round."

Pet Appreciation week is open to the public, along with leashed, friendly pets.

Devin Whipp, receiving manager at Tractor Supply, said the event is a great source of community fun.

"We hope to see several people there and we have a lot of deals on pet items," he said. "This event is for all the great customers we have."
