Pentino Wins Fitness Challenge, Donates $10K to Children’s Museum in Wheeling

The evening of July 12 was the culmination of a 90-day total health transformation journey for 10 participants in the Community Fitness Challenge for Doctors program.

The winner reveal event, held in conjunction with the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce's Business After Hours, recognized those who competed in the most recent CFC, highlighted the charities they represented and bestowed a $10,000 to the winner's charity.

Dr. Alex Pentino, owner of Pentino Dental in St. Clairsville, was declared the winner by West Virginia Senate Majority Leader Ryan Ferns, R-Ohio, also owner of the RF Healthplex in Benwood where the program was held. Pentino's chosen charity, the Children's Museum of the Ohio Valley, located in Wheeling, received the $10,000 cash prize.

The Community Fitness Challenge was co-founded in early 2016 by David McKinley, president and chief investment officer of McKinley Carter Wealth Services, and Ferns, to encourage a healthy lifestyle among community leadership and to set a good example for health and wellness for others in the Ohio Valley. The CFC 4.0 group was the fourth class to complete the 90-day challenge.

In accepting the challenge invitation, CFC 4.0 competitors each donated $1,000 to a charity pool and then selected a charity on whose behalf they would compete. Each committed to a three-day per week CrossFit workout at the RF Healthplex and a comprehensive nutritional program. Factors considered in naming the winner included biometric testing results, CrossFit benchmarking results, workout attendance, and participation in the nutritional program. ∫ Dr. Jessica Ybanez-Morano, (Chairman of Obstetrics & Gynecology, OVMC) -- Charity: Our Lady of Divine Providence Orphanage;

∫ Dr. Nick Cottrell, (Anesthesiology, Wheeling Hospital) -- Charity: Miracle League/YMCA;

∫ Dr. Chris Tiu, (Otolaryngology, Wheeling Hospital / OVMC) -- Charity: Project Hope;

∫ Dr. Jamie Etzel, (Internal Medicine, WVU Medicine/Reynolds Memorial Hospital) -- Charity: YWCA; and

∫ Dr. Attila Lenkey, (Pulmonary Medicine, Intensivist, and Sleep Medicine, Multiple Hospitals) -- Charity: Wheeling Junior League.
