Crews with Savage Construction of Wheeling continue working on a parking lot for the Good Shepherd Nursing Home last week. Wheeling City Council approved a permit for the lot earlier this year that allowed the nursing home to tear down three vacant houses it owned at 158, 158 1/2 and 160 Edgington Lane to create a 39-space parking lot across the street from the main entrance to the facility. At a city planning commission meeting in February, Donald Kirsch, administrator of the nursing home, said the parking lot is necessary to accommodate people visiting the facility’s 192 residents. Currently, the only parking lot for the nursing home is on the south end of the property, far from its main entrance.
