Sheila Whitmire blows the shofar to open the evening of prayer in Independence Hall in Wheeling, where the National Day of Prayer was celebrated. Behind her is Dawn Noble, state coordinator for the National Day of Prayer. Dozens gathered in the historic courthouse to pray with one voice. Prayers were led by numerous representatives from various fields in the community, with prayers being held for government, the military, the media, business, emergency personnel, family, the church, and those struggling with addiction, among others. The theme of this year's celebration was John 13:34 which says, "Love one another, just as I have loved you."
